Just for the record, two other rental car companies said the same thing. Temporary license on paper doesn't fly for the rental car place.

And would this be a better impression... "Hey, I can't get my ass down to Fayetteville from Raleigh because I can't get a rental car. But hey, instead of me finding a cheap, alternative solution, why don't you just drive up here and pick me up since I'm not smart enough to do something that would make your life a little easier."

I think I'd stick with Greyhound every time. $14 out of my pocket is a much better deal than hoping someone there would come get me.

    Give me a break.

who would want that to be the first impression you made? but at least the cat had the balls to carry on. expired plastic is expired plastic. so the post office lost his dmv reminder, so what? who here can tell me what year their plastic expires without looking first ... i sure as to hell can't.

I think it shows an ability to improvise. We never have to do that, do we?

I am also somewhat disturbed that people in the Fayettville shop are apparently spreading the rumors. This story should've gone no further than the interview room. That tells me what I need to know about Fayetteville.

I would agree there. The info should've never been put out there in the first place. Not in a public forum.

I'll say that I've met several of the guys at the Fayetteville Observer and they are all great. How do we know that the rumor was being spread out of that office?

Maybe BP went back back to Cali Cali and told somebody the story and after that person told the story to somebody else, who told it to somebody else, who told it to somebody else a few of the details got messed up. I wouldn't label the people in Fayetteville at malicious rumormongers just because a wild story was spread around.

Or it didn't start as the true story coming out of Fayetteville just as a little aside joke to a friend, then spiraled into the version told here.

Gonna dump on everybody because of one person?

What it should tell you is that there's one narcissist who couldn't wait to trumpet someone else's misfortune. He's the perpetually grumpy one on a staff otherwise comprised of team players.

Maybe so, but someone — be it someone in the shop in Feirut — or say, a friend back west violated a trust. After being outed, and having to take some heat, he's handled the situation on the board in a most positive way. I'm pulling for the guy. :D

Nitrobreath, I don't see how you can make that assumption. That is strictly an unedcuated guess on your part.
