    Still open, last I heard. Freedom has a lot of open management positions these days. From what I hear, at least two Freedom dailies have gone without full-time publishers since last fall.
     
  3. That has to make you wonder if they will make a hire at all. I mean at some point, the publisher has to realize that he's getting the same bang for much less buck apparently. Why hire someone and pay them $60K if there's no need? Save the dough and give yourself a big bonus at the end of the year.
     
  4. Word is Jared Macarin, the prep guy, got promoted. Congrats, Jared.

    Good, solid hire. He knows the ropes, and he has some good connections around the state on which to draw from. Plus, he provided some strong leadership in the wake of the former SE's passing.

    see, some people do hire from within, although not in Bham. Oh, but those inhouse candidates were only stringers.
