Yep. I'd be in the corner of the Gold Strike sportsbook quietly rooting against. Then I'd take my profits, blow them at craps and go to bed a broken man. Love a good junket!

I love stuff like that. Video poker expert Bob Dancer has told a few stories on VSiN lately about old casino promotions (i.e., bonuses on four-of-a-kinds and such) that created huge player edges and kept video poker pros glued to seats for hours and hours until the house wised up.

Come on, there aren't that many piss ant Ole Miss peckerwoods putting down $11 bets that its going to move the line.

Three of us were about to drive to Biloxi that week until one of us had to good sense to call the casino - “table games, please” - and they told us it had been closed for three days.

    Damn.

Dancer is an American treasure. Made millions from video poker and he sounds like he wakes up every morning and fires up a J by 8 am.

First bad beat of the football season.

Had a 3-team parlay last night.

CFL: Edmonton money line over Sask.
CFL: Ottawa money line over Toronto.
    Bears/Ravens: Under 36.

Bears/Ravens had settled down on the scoring by half. I knew Edmonton would win at home.
Went to bed with Ottawa up 38-14. (Been watching a ton of CFL this summer to pick up trends.)

I wake up to see Toronto wins 42-41. TD with :01 left.

"Motherfuck," I mutter at 2 a.m. as I learn the score and eat a PopTart, having already cashed it in my mind. Buying a new Laz-E-Boy will have to wait.

There are enough big money Ole Miss boosters with crystal chandeliers hanging from their tailgate tents in The Grove to move the line. I've seen $100 a point cornhole games there.

Dang. But good call on the Bears/Ravens under. There's money to be made in the NFL preseason.

This is actually my ideal time of the year for football betting.

I watch a fair amount of CFL (as I eagerly await my state to be legal and I can get action via an app -- I still have "my guy in the desert" as a mule) and non-conference college football. I generally play against college teams with a new coach (UCLA, Arizona State, Tennessee) and play with college teams with experienced QBs. By October, I re-assess the markets.

Bears/Ravens started out at O/U 33 and jumped to 36. Had to go the other way.

Frickin' Marc Trestman and his Argos.

I wish my state, Indiana, would get its act together for sports betting. Mississippi was sharp (there's three words you don't see together too often) in leading the way in the south; Indiana would be smart to get on board first in the Midwest.
