Mark McGwire also went from being a hero to being persona non grata for a few years before becoming the Cards' hitting coach.

Agree completely. That said, I believe Toronto Raptors fans need to get over it.

I don't think there are enough basketball fans in Toronto give a shit about Carter or any other Raptors, past or present.

Along the same lines of Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire had a pretty mighty fall. Guy went from a shoo-in HOFer to one or two steps above Bonds on the pariah scale in the blink of an eye. I think St. Louis still likes him, so he's got that going for him, but to the rest of the country he's just one of many baseball roiders.

Nick Saban is also not too popular in Baton Rouge these days. Guy could've been governor of Louisiana in 2004. Now if he was on fire people would only piss on him after they drank a gallon of turpentine.

Nick Saban also isn't too popular in East Lansing. They loved him up there until he left.

Here is a question about Mark McGwire - if he gets a manager's job (which, given the way St Louis hits you figure some day he will get one) and say he wins, four world series and has a 15-year stretch of a bunch of playoff berths and a historically good winning percentage.

Do you think the "anti juicing voters" would think about voting for him as a manager?
