I get SI and Time on my HP Touchpad tablet. HP updated the OS last week and now I can't read either, they download but don't open.
I called SI customer service, they said they're aware of the problem and are working to fix it.

Yesterday I got my magazine mourning the loss of Al Davis. What a joke.

The issues are coming fast and furious now. Just received one from 3 weeks ago with the Bills on the cover.
It has an excerpt from new book by Jeff Pearlman on Walter Payton. If the full book is anything like the excerpt I can't imagine that it will be well received in Chicago.

Thing is, they don't know. They're mailing it out the same as they always have. How are they supposed to know what goes on in the postal system?

I worked at a legal publication. Second class mail. It frustrated the heck out of me when someone called and said they didn't get their issue on the day they usually did. I was completely and utterly powerless to help them, as I prepared it every week the same way and dropped it off at the post office at the same time on a weekly basis. Their best bet was to complain at their post office.

It helps nothing get pissed off at the wrong people.

No issue yet nor any response from customer service to emails.

Got mine Friday, which isn't unusual. No sign - still - of the Payton issue.

On a one time basis, sure. But this has been going on for two months now, at least. It's a lot easier to just let my subscription run out if everything is posted for free online, and it's the only way the content will be timely. Even if I cracked open the most recent issue I got back on Friday, why would I spend my time reading previews to games that happened 5-6 days ago? I'm already focused on what's happening tomorrow.

I can complain about a few things in the most recent issue (which I did receive on time last week). They once again trotted out the multiple-cover gimmick, which seems especially pointless here, because the cover also included a smaller version of the other cover. Also on the cover, the black bar that says "Dan Wheldon 1978-2011" is so small that it's easily overlooked. (They did that with Al Davis the week before, too.) The "Inside College Football" section says that Wisconsin is "head and shoulders above the rest of the Big Ten," yet on the very next page, Michigan State is called "a genuine threat to upset Wisconsin." And Tim Layden, who's normally excellent, wrote a weird story that I think tried to be both an Eagles-Redskins gamer and a league-wide survey, but wasn't very much of either.

But I found the Gary Smith story on Jerry West (and the excerpts from West's new book) fascinating. I knew West was a tortured soul, but . . . wow. (I just checked, and the article apparently isn't available online, for some reason.)

Received an ironic note from SI today but not my SI.

"Attention Your Subscription Is About To Be Interrupted."

The Jerry West stuff was great.

I didn't get this week's SI (today's mail was just delivered). Last week's Entertainment Weekly came 5 days late.
