John Seibel is horrible. From his voice to the way he ends some sentence as if he was asking a question but he's not. "Umm, you know, cause that's just the way it is(?)." His points are worthless, too. He just....fucking babbles.

I miss EK. The SportsBash is horrible now.

I'm with ya. Seibel bores me to tears. I know EK isn't well liked around these parts, but I miss him too.

Siebel is all loud catchphrases and voices. Right, he's perfect for ESPN. Seriously, he might be one of the least-talented guys on ESPN Radio, which is saying something.

Is it just me or do most of the Smack-Off calls sound very similar. It's hard to distinguish one from the other. Cablanasian was great - but I thought Greg in Vegas' take on Glengarry was better, but might have lost points for a lack of sports takes. The guy who spoofed Baldwin's call to his daughter was also great.

I never thought I'd say it, but I miss Kuselias also. Yes, Seibel is horrible. His biggest problem in my eyes is that he "talks in commas" -- that is he starts talking about the subject at hand and goes off on a few subordinate clauses still leaving us hanging on to what he's actually talking about to the point where I'm in my car yelling "Get to the fucking point already."

    I'm with this guy.
(For those of you with cars, my advice is to fork over the $14 a month for Sirius. Stern fan or not.)

Another thing about Seibel... it's like he tries to be cool. He tries to use a cool tone and "cool" words like "dude, man, guy."

And the talks in commas point is great. I knew I was missing more ways to describe him.

At least put Jeff Rickard or Ryan Rucillo (probably 'SP?' on both of those) on there. Neither of those is bad. Rickard just says "at this point in time" way too much and Rucillo has the deepest voice on the WWL Radio.

That list of "talent" sums up what's wrong with ESPN. They used to feature some of the very best national hosts - Kornheiser, Todd Wright, Chuck Wilson, Tony Bruno, even Peter Brown (much more effective as part of an ensemble where someone can call BS on him than he is as a solo act). Under the programming reign of the recently departed lead executive, they've been weeded out and replaced with a bunch of interchangable nobodies.

Seibel is awful, but is what a friend of mine who works there describes to me as their "innings eater". He's not good, but he shows up. If ESPN ever gets serious about hiring top talent again, they'll become relevant. As long as they treat all hours not involving Mike and Mike, Cowherd or Dan Patrick as garbage time, their product will reflect it. Hopefully for listeners, whoever the eventual new person in charge is will look to upgrade the quality.

Rufino, that is a great term to describe sub-par talent on the WWL radio (innings eater). They at least show and eat up time, thus giving the local stations an opportunity to supplant the national programming for their local yokels. I don't expect ESPN Radio to change up their lineup anytime soon. The recently departed execs screwed things up royally, as you pointed out Rufino. They basically ran Tony K. and Tony B. off, Peter Brown is regulated to eating up innings at SNR, and Todd Wright has rejuvenated himself on SNR.

And to think that Mike and Mike and Dan Patrick is their cash cow isn't saying a whole lot. Speaking of Seibel, did you know that he was profiled on TLC's "A Wedding Story" when he got married. That says a lot about him. I'll listen to Bill Pidto before I'll listen to any of the Double-A lineup ESPN Radio rolls out on a daily basis (except that smartass Gottlieb and Valvano).
