Whitlock's opening started well enough as he basically called everyone who disagreed with him on that panel (the hip-hop summit in Atlanta a while back) stupid.

My vote for most annoying sports radio hosts are Randy and Jason Sklar when they fill in for Jim Rome. They are by far the most annoying people on Earth and I don't even bother to listen. Sure Rome is sometimes hard to listen to, but when these idiots come on I'd rather listen Religious talk radio. That's bad I think they are!! And the local guys here in Reno bother me too Don and Todd, they talk about news that's three days old and all Todd does is laugh for the entire hour.

I tried listening to The Locker Room one afternoon in Myrtle Beach and needed to be institutionalised for a month while my brain was on strike. That is hands down the worst programing, sports radio or other, in the history of human communication.

I was surprised Whitlock didn't recognize Harry Edwards' voice when he called in on the Rome show.

They're on right now. I've listened for like 2 hours and I'm beginning to ponder finding a watchtower to climb up, accompanied by a .22 or whatever type of firearm people who are driven insane usually brandish.

The Sklaars and Simmons have had a fun rift the last few years. As limited as Simmons' talent is, it appears god-like next to the Sklaars.

    And they're hosting tomorrow, too.

Does somebody want to take a run at breaking down the Sklaar's humor? There technique/style/etc.? I just can't do it right now, it's just isn't worth the key strokes.

Rome - I think you've had to cast out Lampley after the domestic abuse no contest or whatever, but PLEASE don't have these guys on anymore. Do they have pictures of you or something? Is it a SoCal brotherhood thing? 'Cheap Seats,' ok. That's there wheelhouse. But to go from you to them is something which has space-time continuum-shattering potential. Please, don't sully your show with this garbage.

If, however, like many radio hosts, you are trying to make yourself seem even more missed by having these guys on, you are succeeding brilliantly - they are garbage.

  6. Lemme get this straight. You think these guys suck, but you've been listening for two hours?

  7. I'm not.
You think Whitlock recognizes any voice but his own?

Amy Lawrence on the SportsBash. Shoot me.

Who's worse? Her or that embarassing erection known as John Seibel?

Fenian, I have a better illustration of sports talk radio than the ones you've posted.

Out in this neck of the woods we have Dave "Softy" Mahler. He's a self-confessed raging case of ADD. He's probably best known for being the host when Hugh Millen got Jim Mora to open his yap about the Huskies.

    Softy highlights:
Insisted, no screamed, that the M's must pick up Juan Gonzalez at any cost...just before Gonzo went bust on Brokeneedle Mountain.
Called for Lou Pineilla's firing any number of times while Lou was in the process of turning the M's into a respectable team.
And so on. (The examples are old because I haven't listened to him in years.)

Here's a photo of Softy attempting a dunk during a Sonics halftime:

Softy's whities ain't so tighty...and they really don't appear so whitey either, come to think of it.

    Who said you did?

The Sklars were unlistenable. So much so, I had to tune into the old folks radio station. I never thought Helen Reddy, Al Hirt, and John Denver could sound 20 times better than some of the current music on-air.
