I'm on the side of leaving out the wife's situation if that's what she wishes. I don't even think I need to give a reason, and if I'm wrong about that, well, there are worse things to be wrong about.

Well, I know for sure this thread was linked on LAObserved.com. I imagine it was linked elsewhere, as well. That's how other people find SJ.

Hey, just like she asked something smart about me, I asked something smart about her. I have never had a problem with the Rockies or Chickie until recently. Besides, this isn't about her any damn way.
Mike is a good writer. I hope he finds the happiness and love he longs for as Christine.

As long as the Times is willing to admit it has a different set of standards for interviewing and writing about the public and interviewing and writing about staff. Because, as someone mentioned, I doubt they'd just avoid the topic if the story was about Joe/Jane Q. Public

Sometimes I'd rather be a human being than a journalist.

    Idiotic? Heh. I guess.

Penner's column bugged me because it didn't really seem to acknowledge reality. It told the story of four guys who all made jokes upon finding out. I mean - that's not realistic. If you're going to come out, come out. The full measure. To not mention your wife, or your family seems...very, very strange. The column leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

What could they do? Anything less is a lawsuit and Tribune Company is bleeding enough. They've got bigger issues than a guy who wants to become a woman and interview other guys.

I'm sure there are private parts that he doesn't want to discuss to anyone right now. I can understand that.

The Penner saga, sigh, just made Leno's monologue.

"You know the most painful part of going from a man to a woman? The pay cut."

But didn't they do that by running the story, but just going half-ass on the details? If that's a story about someone in the community, does it ever see the light of day with such obvious omissions?

Life's full of tough calls, and this one presents a whole host of them.
