Apparently I am, because I don't think mainstream America has the first idea that this story exists.

And if what you're suggesting happens, I'll tip my cap to you for being right. Right now, though, there's NOTHING you can point to that proves the point you're trying to make. Not one single thing. You're just throwing shit out there.

I didn't insult religion. I asked that it not be a part of the conversation.

I called them a hate group because they are labeled as such by a recognized body that is used by law enforcement agencies at Federal and State levels. I could have stepped outside the United states, but that would have resulted in a much larger group of organiations labeled such.

I didn't say they disagreed with me. And yes, in a polite society, when others persecute people for irrational differences, we do do that.

Zag, on staying out of bedrooms: You agree, which is why you think every wife needs to provide a comment on a husband's infidelities for a newspaper story? Care to retract your last post?

Not quite a reality series, but a television show of this nature is being shopped around and apparently Brad Pitt's name is attached for power.

No, I don't care to retract it, not one bit, because it is not the same thing. I'm not asking what they do in their bedrooms or who they do it with, I am asking the wife of a public figure to comment on their spouse's behaviour. Does she believe his side of it? She knows him best, allegedely.

Once again dysonance, you are saying that people's religious and or spiritual beliefs are irrational, which is rude.

This thread is careening downhill, but to get back to the journalism debate........I'm not assuming anything, but it's a legitimate question that should be addressed in a news story about the reaction to the column.

Again, the column can be handled any way Penner and his editor want. But if you are doing a news story about how people reacted to the column, it just seems to be Reporting 101 to find out how Penner's wife feels about being pushed into the spotlight. If she doesn't want to talk about it, fine.

I'm not on any big crusade about this, in case it comes off that way. It just seemed a curious news decision to me.

    dyssonance,

I have a question. I realize there is a difference but find it hard to wrap my mind around it.

What is the difference between an person with male sexual organs who believes she is female and presumably is attracted to men and a gay male?

And why does there seem to be resentment to being lumped in with gays on your part?

Its true, not rude. I didn't say that they were bad, nor did I infer such. I'm extremely religious, myself, and I'm well aware that my religion is based on my faith, without solid evidence that can be used to establish it. That's irrational. Not irrational in a ad way, just irrational. I happen to think we need faith in our lives. Indeed, you'll find that TS people are, as a rule, tremendously spiritual people. A significant number are involved in religion of all sorts.

It simply doesn't belong in this discussion because it will cause it to devolve even rfurther than it has already.

I find it odd you consider the word irrational to have such a negative connotation.

Someone just sent me this link. Scroll to the bottom to find out about his wife and you'll see that apparently bloggers ask better questions than reporters now days......

And to Finishthehat's point, I'm not sure why this didn't merit at least one sentence in the "news" story about this apparently landmark event.

OK, the idea that a male with male organs thinks he is a woman so he cross dresses is irrational.

    Does that work for you?

    I didn't think so.

Is that Christine at the bottom of the page in the black bikini? She's pretty hot. Those hormones work fast!
