Let me guess. You're a medical writer. ;D

Careful, FB. With posts like that, you're going to out yourself.

Hate to say it, but your phraseology really cracks me up.

Or as Karnack would have said - you cut off your slausen.

Wonder what they do with it. Does it go to someone going the other direction - a transplant of sorts.

I think newspapers generally do a lousy job of communicating with readers about staff information.

This is an exceptionally good job of doing it. Can't see why anybody would bitch about it being in the paper.

    Sure is a talker.

    Good luck, Christine.

I think it shows up in a package of Ballpark Franks.

    Or Little Smokies.

    Sort of depends.

Silliness aside, I do wish Mike the best. That's a hell of a hard road he's traveled. Hope the toughest times are in his rear-view mirror.

I really feel for Lisa Dillman...hard enough to deal with something like this privately, but publicly? Wow.

Column avoids a lot of important/interesting questions: Is he married (according to SJ posts, he is/was)? Children? What his parents think. Is it the editor's responsibility under the circumstances to make sure those questions get asked? The fact that they weren't is the downside of letting the subject control the story. It's a questionable editorial decision, IMHO.

She skipped over what is probably going to be the toughest part of all --- Going into locker rooms as her new self. I can't imagine that's going to be easy in the slightest ...

No mention of what the co-pay is . Wonder if procedure was $20 general or $40 specialists . Either way I bet its a big hit on LA Times health insurance bill.

I know of a reporter here that went through a sex change while in journalism school. He was born female and changing the name was very minimal (not a big change except adding a letter to the name). He has adjusted very well but he has kept it quiet just because of fear of what may come about. He is doing news but hopes to cover sports in the future. I am impressed with how he has carried on considering this life changing experience.
