    Yea, broncs, bulls and calves/steers are provided, but you need your own horse for most events. You're not gonna do that shit jumping off a horse you don't know.

    (following the threadjack, sorry)

    Absolutely you want a horse you know. My other sister (not the NASA one) is a somewhat-pro barrel racer (as in, she'll never see Vegas but her name is on some list somewhere) and she finally has a horse that's earning her money, she claims.

    It's for sale now for $40k, which, I'm told, is cheap for a good barrel horse.

    (have you actually ever covered a rodeo, pilot? cause that's a fairly big miss ... )

    Very cheap, least from what I understand (as in I haven't really been around rodeo in 3-4 years).

    Bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding all use stock provided by the rodeo, so no, those cowboys wouldn't have a horse in the back of their pick-up as if it were a dog.

    I covered about 20 rodeos last summer. You?

    And bareback, bronc and bull riding hardly comprise "most" events, which is what you said earlier.

    Calf roping (two horses required), steer wrestling, barrel wrestling.
