  1. Drinking metaphor time:

This thread is like a bad hangover, it won't go away.

  2. No problem dude. Alcohol is cool with me. And I drink on occassion ... I did vote seldom ... but I dont think its wrong to drink!!! No apology necessary either. I still think this thread has had a lot of interesting input.

And no I didn't get into a wreck, Tom. But I do appreciate you caring ;)

    I'll drink to that!!!!!

  3. Haven't found a beer I enjoyed, but don't come between me and my Coke and Jack Daniels on Friday night. Two, and I'm ready for bed.

There's a legendary story about a reporter at the Toronto Star who was sent to some small town in Quebec to do a feature on the place because it was named one of the best small towns in Canada - or something like that.

The story ran and later the paper got a call from the mayor of the town saying he didn't recognize any of the names of the people who were quoted. Turns out the reporter spent the week in the town bar, made up quotes and named the people after bottles of liquor behind the bar.

  5. I work with a guy who had to cover an early day game around 11 a.m. then proceed to to a bar and get drunk, and forget to write his story. Unbelievablely he managed not to get fired.

There's an old baseball writers story about a guy who was a known drunk, tied one on and passed out in his hotel room. He didn't show up for a game the next day. The other guys on the beat didn't want him to get in trouble, so they decided to file the game story for him. That night, the drunk gets a call at his hotel from his desk, asking him why he filed 3 different game stories. All of the other beat guys filed for him.
