    Responsibilities

    • Manage a team of NBA reporters and writers; assign and edit stories.
    • Develop weekly, monthly, and seasonal content plans for the sport.
    • Work with writers on planning long-term projects and coverage around tentpole events like the NBA Draft, free agency, summer league
    • Collaborate with SEO lead to develop NBA live blog plan — and implement other best practices — to drive organic audience growth.
    • Participate in weekly brainstorming sessions to develop content ideas across all sports.
    • Assist in conceptualizing NBA podcast and digital video topics talent.
    • Collaborate with the social media team on best practices to grow writers’/talent’s personal handles.
    • Help identify trending stories and breaking NBA news for the blog team.
    • Proactively engage cross-functional teams for major initiatives (editorial, video/production, social, marketing).
    A Lot About You:

    • At least seven years of experience in digital sports media/journalism.
    • Experience managing reporters and developing story angles.
    • Strong writing, grammar, and communication skills, and an understanding of the “tone” of the internet
    • Deep knowledge of NBA players, team and league officials, and other newsmakers within the sport.
    • Strong news sense and AP style knowledge required.
    • Sharp instinct for writing SEO- and social-friendly headlines required.
    • Keen eye for prioritizing content and spotting emerging trends and storylines.
    • Demonstrate ability to cross-collaborate and work well in a team setting.

    • A team player who can multitask and work across diverse groups to partner and collaborate on multiple initiatives.
    • Ability to edit and program content within internal content management systems.

    The compensation for this position ranges from $90,750.00 - $188,750.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.     That's a strange one. Collaborate with social team on company handles? Of course. But I think I'd have enough on my plate without sitting in on meetings to grow my writers' handles.
