I'm not as up on the current crop of standup comics, but one from a while back got me in stitches, and even now, when I see a recording of that show, I still laugh heartily. The Amazing Jonathan.

You have to say that in a whisper for it to be funny.

Thanks, good buddy. They stole the show from those damned Olsen twins.

I reset the vote and added some names from all the suggestions.

We've covered some of this recently. But anyway.

Lewis Black, and I'd clearly pick him over Carlin these days. Carlin has not been funny in stand-up for a few years now. He's just angry.

A name which I think should have been on the list, probably my No. 2, is Eddie Izzard. And I recently saw Larry Miller on HBO, when he did a half-hour just on his first ski run, and it was pee-myself hilarious.

Chappelle and Leary both get big thumbs-up from me. Dane Cook, not as much, but I see some of the things that his fans do. The Blue Collar guys, I can enjoy in small doses.

Just keep Doug fucking Stanhope off the list, and I'll be happy.

Second that on Carlin. I love him, but I feel sorry for him too often these days.

The Blue Collar guys are a guilty pleasure, though Larry the Cable guy is awful.

I like Stanhope, and his version of the Aristocrats joke is fall-down funny.

That version is so foul that I nearly soiled myself. But other than that, he's a loathesome drunkard.

  12. Gaffigan is funny. I love his take on Christmas.

Dave Attell is great too and I'm surprised he hasn't gotten any love.
