    Haters.

Let me just say that if Carolina wins the Stanley Cup, it will be the culmination of a dream I have harbored for almost a month now.

Hey Pirates, I'm with you. Go Canes ... I picked Canes 4-2 in the loonie pool.

I love it when non-sports folks call the sports department and ask silly questions like, "how many minutes are there in a inning again?" -- referring to the stanley cup game 7

Gives you an idea of southerners trying to follow hockey.

    GO CANES!

So what? How can I possibly cheer for any team that kept my team from winning at least two or three Stanley Cups in the '80s? I won't. I refuse to. And you can't make me.

Um ... well ... we don't really get calls like that. I wouldn't expect that up here. Nonetheless, we do hear a lot of stupid questions (like why don't you think Kurt Cobain is a god? seriously, I just took that call :p).

In Canada they ask how many yards are in a football field.

I had that experience earlier this season. A useless newsie asked, "How many periods are there in a hockey game?"

    Three.

"How many minutes are in a period?"

    Twenty.

"What if the game goes into overtime?"

A five-minute period, followed by shootout.

"What time will the game end?"

    When it's over.

No, we don't really get confused over that either, even though our fields (and balls) are bigger than yours. What we struggle with is how the hell do you win at cricket?
