C'mon Spnited! There are die-hard 'Canes fans! They've followed the Hurricanes for ten minutes.

I've never been to Raleigh but I can assure you it's been to worse places. :)

And at least they can have a proper Stanley Cup parade through a city core, unlike the New Jersey Devils, who have settled for making circuits around the arena parking lot.

Word is, a couple of guys from Edmonton bought season tickets in Carolina for next season ... 800 US a pop ... and received free tickets to tonight's game.
Motherfucker. That would not happen for a Game 7 in Edmonton, Calgary,  Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto or Ottawa ... probably not Winnipeg or Quebec City either.

I'm not a Devils fan, but the parking lot parade is a good fuckin' time.

Maybe I'm taking things too seriously, but I just shaved my beard.

    I doubt that.
I try to give the rest of the media respect, but I thought Canadians were going to cry in the press room tonight. Fucking sad to see.
But, I am soaked in champagne and I mistakenly felt up the fiancee of one of the players (I'll leave out which one because we'll most of them are bigger than me).

There are a lot of deserving Carolina players who earned that Cup and, as a proud Canadian journalist, I tip my hat to them. Well, I would if I were wearing a hat. I ripped it to shreds after the empty-net goal. No, I'm totally kidding. Congratulations to the Hurricanes and their fans, whether they're in Raleigh or Greensboro or Hartford or wherever.

You're not. I shaved mine after the Ducks were eliminated. Playoff beards rock. ;D

    Sirs, Madames,

First, the fans in Quebec had to watch their team leave town, only to win the Cup. Now, imagine the disappointment for the people of Greensboro.

I am very glad for Glen Wesley who has a supporting role in a book I just finished (okay, in page proofs). He has been a very good player for a long, long time--though on at least one shift last night he looked pretty shot. He was an incredible junior, one of the rarer 18-year-olds who was able to skate out of junior at 18 and play right away (on a finals team no less). It doesn't sound like much but by doing that he pulled off what Pronger, Jovo, Redden and just about everybody else this side of Ray Bourque couldn't.

Somewhere Paul Maurice is draining the floor-standing promotion-sized bottle of Scotch.

A GM told me the other day that Chris Pronger won't be back in Edmonton next season--I know he has a deal. And really it wasn't simply telling me. He wanted to bet me $1,000 that Pronger would be moved.

Thankfully Ron Francis already has his rings.

Aaron Ward goes from spare part in Detroit to a lead guy on a Cup-winner--I would have bet that would never happen.

For me, my favourite part of the season is just days off: The draft. I long to hear a GM say that he was surprised the player he chose was still there when their pick came 'round. I wish I could be GM for a day (I'm channellling Chris Snow) just so I could say, 'The guys we really wanted were gone. I was all set to pick nobody but my scouts made me take someone I've never seen."

    YHS, etc

Great hockey, great playoffs, great final. Felt sorry for the Oilers but they just got flat outplayed in game 7.

And next year will be the 40th anniversary of you know what.
