Well, we aim to be an industry leader - but, yeah, on something like this I'd prefer people not find out this way.

Oh I agree with Moddy. And it just says what a piss poor management group this is.

In fact, I'd bet that no one receives those phone calls. I'd also bet they don't return calls from the coordinators asking about this.

I heard a lot of guys found out when they couldn't log onto their sites or check e-mail. Sadly, it was a good idea for a company, but they didn't have the money. So, now about 50 journos lose jobs.

My first job used to let people know they were fired by taking their timecard...this is almost as bad.

So what are the odds I receive that check for covering an event on Aug. 22?
I was first told checks were going out Sept. 1, then is was Oct. 1. Haven't seen anything yet.

Also, heard this from my a friend who was working for them.."they routinely screwed up the programming, but the first they managed to get right was denying access to accounts."

Some newspaper folks who cover prep sports are even trying to use the argument that they are the only ones who cover the local high school sports scene, but CoachesAid.com does it better than they ever could, so that argument is also not worth discussing.

    Uh-huh.

And from that same link (the author adds something in the comments section).

The San Francisco Chronicle, New York Times, Dallas Morning News, Kansas City Star and Chicago Sun Times are losing between $750K to $1M per week...and they can't keep that up for very long.

Many of those newpapers listed above could be out of business soon, but they are the lucky ones, as many of their national brethren are already gone. Even the Tulsa World and Daily Oklahoman lose money and like any business you simply don't stay in it long to lose money.

What an idiot. It looks like that guy works for the website so of course he is going to say that coachesaid.com is the greatest thing to hs sports. Give me a break.
