Shockingly, there is yet another new -- yet the same, old, tired tune -- development ...

    ****

Coaches Aid Corporation is undergoing a company management and ownership change:

Due to this change, effective February 1st all CoachesAid Content Coordinators will move to a licensee based structure. CoachesAid Content Coordinators will have the first right and opportunity to license their state operation from Coaches Aid and proceed as the operator of their own state sites. The state Content Coordinators will be paid through the end of January as employees, and have the option of continuing on as a licensee from that point forward. All future responsibility for the states will be placed on the state license program nationally.

Hopefully each coordinator will choose to license their state as the licensee or they will partner with individuals in their state to do so. There will be a 3 month period for our current coordinators to participate in the license program without cost before other licensees will be considered to assume control. At the conclusion of the three month trial period, the existing Content Coordinators that are participating in the licensee program will be able to make the choice as to whether or not they would like to assume a permanent license based on their level of success.

There is tremendous opportunity to partner with media outlets and entrepreneurs in each state that will potentially create an effective business structure for each of you. We have found multiple outlets that understand the value and infrastructure that they can obtain with Coaches Aid at one tenth of the cost of similar startup companies. Coaches Aid will equip you with all the tools laid out in the license program including: site infrastructure, ad manager, content model and tech support with no initial investment on the part of our existing employees.

Coaches Aid appreciates all the hard work that has gone into the building of the states to this point and plans on a solid future with it license program.

Martin Barnett will be in charge of providing the needed corporate support to those of you that will choose to proceed as a licensee.

    Thank you for your efforts,

So, what did we learn today, folks? Just after six months from going to a 50-state rollout (with the promise of millions in investment capital and a three-day meeting/smokescreen with the entire staff in Oklahoma City) and then just over three months from going down to 13 states (with the promise that the move made the company stable and viable for a three-year period), CoachesAid.com is divesting itself of its entire "infrastructure".

Folks who bought into this fell hook, line and sinker. Some, as you have read, were treating it as a second gig of sorts. Many others had their very existences tied to the paychecks that CoachesAid.com promised. Not two weeks ago, those remaining folks were assured by upper management that a clerical error delayed their December paychecks -- with more assurances that jobs were safe.

Who knows what Feb. 1 will bring for the remaining CoachesAid.com "family", which actually received an overtly religous chain e-mail from president Jason Swanson just one day before hearing of this news.

More as it develops ... Sigh.

Really do feel bad for those involved in this, but I agree, if you didn't see this coming, you only had one eye open.

Anyone know how the licensing deal compare to what Scouts and Rivals does? I was under the impression that is what those firms do with their state/team pages?

I can't even remember his name, but I sat down with one of the big dogs with CoachesAid at a Starbucks in Oklahoma City last year.

The conversation lasted about 10 minutes. As soon as I pegged him as a car salesman, I was out the door.

Sorry to hear what happened to everyone.

It sounds like car salesmen have more scruples or honesty than this guy did.

The latest e-mail sent to folks there:

In an effort to let everyone know as quickly as possible so that you can plan accordingly, January payroll will be unfortunately delayed until the end of this coming week.

We hope to be able to clear everyone up on both payroll as well as expenses at one time and it will take a few additional days to make sure that the needed funds will be in place. We apologize about the delay and thank you for your patience with us.

    Thank-you,
    Mark Ward

Jeff Goldblum's Jurassic Park line comes to mind here.

    Which one?

The one about CHAOS? Or the one where he tells John Hammond, "You were so worried about whether or not you could that you didn't stop to think if you should"?
