I know everyone has been wanting an update and I spoke with a friend of mine who is a content coordinator. He said that if anyone is waiting to here whether or not they are going to be hired for a content coordinator position they can stop because all the spots have been filled except for one he said, but he wasn't sure which state.

He said every coordinator was in Oklahoma City and much of the weekend centered around training and learning how to use the new website. He said it looked as if the site was launched before the tech guys were ready for it to because there are still a lot of bugs to work on the site.

He said all the coordinators kept asking about budgets but no timetable was given as to when they would be made available. Also no timetable was given as to when they would be able to hire writers. Right now it seems as if these guys just wants the sites up and functional before they start hiring freelancers.

Hope this helps some people out. Sorry I don't have more info. My buddy said there is some good financial backing to the this thing and said he thought it would work if people were willing to make it too. He said it would take a lot of PR and just getting the name out there.

I appreciate the info. Not surprised it had to come through the grapevine and not straight from themselves.

I am the content coordinator for Coaches Aid Indiana and I will confirm the above. As far as hiring additional staff ... we submitted proposed budgets last week at OKC. When the company approves our budgets, we will be able to hire freelancers. This may take some time as there are 50 separate budgets to go through.

Each state will be different based on the number of schools in the state. Texas has many more schools than Indiana and therefore will have many more positions. I do know that some state content coordinators were told that they need to hire an additional full-time position ... Illinois, Ohio and Michigan, for example, have enough schools to warrant two full-time coordinators.

Feel free to send me a question or post others you may have about Coaches Aid. I'll do my best to answer them. And when I get the green light to hire, I will post my freelance openings in Indiana here.

That's 'cause we were all out in Oklahoma ... I posted scores in Indiana, but that's about all I could do.

I've been with CoachesAid since February 2001, obviously in Oklahoma. I'm not involved in hiring/interviewing/runaround-ing of anyone, but have fairly decent grasp of what's going on. I don't know all, but more than most. If you have any questions, feel free to email or PM me.

I have been going through the same stuff as everyone else is saying. I was in steady contact with my state coordinator for a couple of weeks in July, and I was excited by the opportunity. Then I couldn't get ahold of him for a while, and now, I am told that he can't specifically hire any reporters until October. Of course, by the time October rolls around, the high school football season, the bread and butter of a site like this, will be about halfway over.
Oh well, I am unemployed, working an uninspiring retail job to pay bills, so, until I stumble upon another gig, I can wait for these guys to get their stuff together, I guess. Still, their way of doing business doesn't seem to be doing much to inspire anybody's confidence.

Wow, that's pretty much what I'm going through word for word...including the uninspiring retail job.

I know it feels like indentured servitude, but if you have an uninspiring retail job, you are not, by definition, unemployed. Underemployed, perhaps. But you are employed.

Sorry for the awkward wording. I meant that I'm not currently employed in the field that for some masochistic reason I want to work in, journalism.

found this piece of copy on the michigan site. Byline intentionally left off.

First thing I noticed was the coach name spelled two different ways. He goes by Rick, which is how it is in the program. He's also one of the longest tenured active coaches in Michigan.
