  1. Re: Mo Dowd Sticks a Pin in the Obama Balloon

Why would my version of God want me to be DNC chairman?
He should have bigger plans for me than that.

This might have been true about 20 years ago. She can still put on a pair of heels and some lipstick, and she still has huge cans, but the tire's pretty bald, y'know?

She might qualify as hot for 'Meet the Press guests that are hot,' but you could go to your local college bar and pick something up at last call that looks better than old Mo. ;)

Probably as good of a description as there is for her efforts.

She is down for a good catfight, though. Her rips on J. Miller were nice. That was some good stuff.

Yeah but the pillow talk would not be near as good.

A good point, Boom. Very good point. Although the people that the bar pickup would gossip about, you might actually want to bang, without a mortician being involved. ;)

Can I point out that she's got a lot of damn nerve jibing Obama for being on the cover of Men's Vogue when she got photographed sprawled across a staircase in Rolling Stone?

Usually you are more defensive of your brethren trying to do their job. Label me mildly surprised.

The job does not require being photographed like a damn floozie!

    Thank God I missed that.

That's Mo, for you. "Take me seriously, take me seriously," followed by wearing a clingy top and heavy lipstick on one of her pundit appearances. ;)

But what about Obama bristling at reporter questions? I bet she would have left her pimp glove in the bag if he was nicer.

I think that act is long over. She hasn't tried to be taken seriously in a while - I guess that battle is long won. One of the sadder radio moments of my recent past was her on Imus, two people of whom I used to be a huge fan. He kept trying to talk to her about Iraq or Bushie or whatever and she would just try to steer him into asking her about her cat-fight with Judith Miller (her term, not mine). She was going on & on about how she doesn't get why guys are so excited by women fighting & he kept insisting that he didn't care. Imus has an excuse, he's an old fool whose wife forms his opinions for him these days. What's Dowd's excuse? I wonder if she could still write if she tried?

Great question, Guy. I don't know. She hasn't tried in awhile, that's for sure.

She's a 50+ year old spinster trying to hang on, and it is sad. Ali vs. Holmes sad.

And like you said, she's shameless. I can't believe she was trying to steer Imus to the Miller stuff. Actually, I can believe it.

The worst thing, IMO, is you know women read her crap. Having her as a 'legitimate' columnist at the Times is a slap at the intelligence of women, like they 'need' MoDo to 'dumb down' the news items of the day in petty, catfight-y, frivolous terms for them or something. It's embarrassing.
