One is a civil case filed long after the incident with no police report ever made. I read the suit last year and it really didn't pass the smell test.

My conclusion upon reading that suit was they had a consensual encounter, he acted like an asshole and she got indignant after the fact.

From what I've been able to gather, he's an asshole who treats people badly and has an advanced case of the sense of entitlement that afflicts a lot of athletes.

It would also appear he's a dumb bastard. An NFL quarterback with a load of cash has his people procure women for him with a clear understanding of what he wants. There are more than enough willing partiicipants available.

I won't argue with that. A 28-year-old franchise quarterback with a pending case has no business partying at college bars (with an alleged victim not even old enough to drink). If I have any of this kind of shit hanging over my head, I'm living like a monk -- unseen and unheard from.

Legal issues aside, you would think the organization would be concerned about his ballooning weight, putting the kibosh on the beer drinking.

There are tons of photos of this guy smashed at bars. All it takes is one image search. The only starting QB who has defiled himself in such a manner has been Kyle Orton, and he's not a superstar with two Super Bowl rings.

I can remember watching a draft reality show the year he was taken, he being one of the players profiled. He came off like a clueless dope back then, too.

Pattern? Let's remember that the incident in Tahoe produced nothing more than a cursory police investigation. In the eyes of the law, he's clean. That's inconvenient for a lot of people, but for now, it's the truth. The presumption of guilt is fine for the average citizen; it's dangerous for a journalist.

Sexual assault. Because that's what my experience and training lead me to believe is the most likely scenario.

I'm not sold on the sexual assault part yet.

I will say his is guilty of being an idiot and a jag off who may have forever tarnished his legacy in Pittsburgh.

In 20 years, Troy Polamalu will be as big of a God in Pittsburgh as he is today. The same with Hines Ward. Just look at Lambert and Ham and compare their status to the perception over the years of Bradshaw.

It is worth something to be adored by an entire city, and Ben has pissed that away.

This might come off a fanboish, but he had a chance to become a patron saint of an entire city (like Jeter, Bird, Mantle and Musial) and not too many athletes have that chance.

I am not convinced his status has changed in Pittsburgh. There's still no shortage of yahoos walking around in 'his' jersey.

There's at least one. I took my 7-year-olds Ben jersey out of the rotation of school clothes.

Thought you were going for unintentionally funny.
    I missed POO's joke.

Trust a Yinzer on this. :)

You have a handful who are even above the greats. Kind of like Bench and Seaver were always above the other great players on their teams.

How many endorsement deals have been affected?

That they haven't been yanked is the greatest proof of general public support there is.

How many endorsements does Ben have to lose? I don't recall ever seeing him endorse products, either locally or nationally but I could be mistaken.
