The NFL currently is in the SUPREME COURT arguing it is, essentially, a single entity.
So in their eyes, Ben belongs to them as much as he belongs to the Steelers.
I'm not sure why Devil is so hung up on the idea there has to be a criminal charge for BBR to be subject to a conduct suspension. If a player MFs his coach, he's subject to a conduct suspension, but he's probably not going to jail for it. If a player says all the refs are crooks, he's going to be subject to a conduct suspension, but he's not going to jail for it.

Weird. Back-to-back updates from the AP about 20 minutes ago on entirely different Roethlisberger topics, but filed under the same slug.

Ok, I need to amend my earlier post - The NFL now needs to put its investigators on the 4 (four) incidents.

The "court" didn't say anything. The D.A. didn't say Ben didn't commit a crime. The D.A. said he didn't have enough evidence to prove he committed a crime. Big difference. We're not talking about an acquittal here.

Still, in the history of employment in this country, there have been millions of people who have been suspended even though they did not commit a crime.

    Where was your outrage then?

AP sent these two stories back-to-back:

ATLANTA (AP) — Investigators looking into a 20-year-old college student’s sexual assault claim against Ben Roethlisberger sought to question another woman about separate incidents reportedly involving the Pittsburgh quarterback.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation documents released Thursday show that after the most recent accusation surfaced, a 16-year-old in a youth law enforcement program told authorities he knew about incidents involving Roethlisberger and a friend’s sister.
Authorities sought repeatedly to interview the woman, who is in her early 20s, but she declined. The teen had said he believed the two-time Super Bowl winner twice made unwanted sexual advances toward the woman.
Prosecutors this week said Roethlisberger will not face charges. Roethlisberger, who faces possible discipline by the Steelers and the NFL, has denied the accusations.
A message seeking comment about the possible earlier incidents were left with his lawyer.

ATLANTA (AP) — A Georgia officer who took the first report from the woman who accused Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of sexual assault has resigned.
Milledgeville police Chief Woodrow Blue on Friday confirmed that Sgt. Jerry Blash resigned Wednesday. That’s one day before the Georgia Bureau of Investigation made public all documents related to its investigation of a 20-year-old woman’s claim that Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her.
Prosecutors say they’re not charging Roethlisberger. Blash is the only officer who interviewed the quarterback. He acknowledged in an interview with investigators that he made some derogatory comments about the alleged victim to other officers.
Multiple calls to a number listed for Blash rang unanswered.

ESPN reporting that the Steelers will be fined for their players actions, in addition to punishment for the individual players.

I got no problem with that. Police your own. If not, the NFL will do it for you.

And those are examples of insubordination and workplace misconduct. And both were probably very provable that the person actually did it.

Be ready? Shiiiiit. TMZ is on my favorites list already. :D

  12. I'm perfectly OK with it if the NFL says that they have conducted their own investigation - even if that investigation isn't more than reading The Smoking Gun.com - and believe that Roethlisberger behaved poorly enough to warrant a suspension.

I'm less OK with suspending him merely because someone accused him of something and it got some bad publicity.
