All of that is fine, well and dandy and I in no way think Roethlisberger was righteous -- and I find it comical that Lugnuts now has me pegged as a Steelers fanboy along with OOP and 93Devil, I'm sure they will get a good laugh out of that one -- but he did not commit a crime in the eyes of the law.

As such, he should not be suspended.

Obviously, there is too much not known about what went on that night and even the chick can't say with certainity -- which is why there are no charges pending -- so the DA decided to drop it.

The NFL and Steelers should scold Ben for being careless but to suspend him?

    For what?

Getting drunk and having premarital sex?

If that is the case then they better mandate only players from Brigham Young can be drafted because the entire league is about to be suspended.

one question. Even if there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute sexual assault, wasn't BBR buying shots for everybody? Contributing to the delinquency of a minor, procuring alcohol for a minor? Sure, its probably just a misdemeanor, but at least charge him with something.

I like girls as much as the next guy, but Ben really? Cruising college bars, hitting on that drunk girl, allegedly forcing yourself? Not F***ing cool.

The DA said they did not prosecute the alochol/minor thing because they would have had to charge both him AND the victim and they figured she'd been through enough.

Woodrow Blue is an awesome name.

  6. That's fine, but that's not what you said.

You implied that it's rape merely because she potentially consented while intoxicated, which isn't consent.

But if he was intoxicated, as well, and they had consensual sex, then didn't he also get raped? Thus, no one did.

  7. A. They had consensual sex.
    B. She was drunk.
    C. He was drunk.

    How is that rape?

The problem I have is four of the five things you listed are illegal, if you break the law you should be punished.

    Shouldn't public opinion/perception factor into Roethlisberger's punishment?

Regardless if the victim's claims are exaggerated or not and regardless of the fact that he won't be tried in court, there's too many disturbing details not to warrant a lengthy suspension.

If this was a straight up lie or cash grab, I think the woman would have holes in her story or in the time frame of the evening's events. Plus, I find it pretty hard to believe that some 20 year old girl that was drunk made this up:

The encounter lasted about ten minutes, beginning from when Roethlisberger entered the back area "with his penis already out of his pants."

The woman said no and fucking asshole Ben didn't stop. If that's not punishable, if that gets nothing more than a slap on the wrist, there's a lot more wrong with the NFL than labor issues.

  10. According to her.

If you're intoxicated, technically, you can't give consent.

    Study harder.

You might think this is a Steeler issue, but it is not.

The league randomly suspending people who have not been charged with a crime is very troubling to me.

And like I typed earlier, you get the moral police running the show... Just be careful what you wish for.

Everyone is pissed that Ben did not get arrested. Don't cut your nose to spite your face by making new rules just to get at him.
