So here's a question for JC and everybody else who obviously understands this rule so much better than I do:

If Bryant breaks the plane of the goal line while lunging forward with the ball, is it a TD?

No. He has to maintain control to all the way to the ground to complete the catch.

We've all seen this calls dozens of time over the last couple of years. I don't like it, but going by the letter of the law, the right call was made.

only if he "completes the process" of possessing the ball all the way. A few years back, the Lions got screwed over by this when Calvin Johnson caught what would have been a game-winning TD in the end zone but the ball came loose as he hit the ground.

He took one step after the catch. Cut this three steps stuff out.

I'll take your word for it, I haven't seen all angles, just that gif I posted a few pages back.

That wasn't a football step. That was gravity come crashing down.

Even in the .gif you posted, you can see his arm's on the left side of the ball, not under it.

OK, I was going to watch the Colts-Broncos game, but I can't take any more 18-on-11.

Roughing the passer? Calling defensive holding on a pick more blatant than the Florida St.-Notre Dame game? I'm out.

If you go to NFL.com, click on the game center and look at the top of the screen, there's a string of highlights you can click on. The one for this play shows every angle you can possibly want.

Roughing the passer was because the guy went for the knees. Again, the rule might be controversial, but that call wasn't. It's been made a million times.
