    Receiver =/= Runner

    You cannot equate rules for runners with receivers.

    Receiver doesn't become a runner until the process of the catch is completed.

    Dumb-ass rule, yet still a rule. Happens four or five times a year at least, and we have to go through this all over again and again when people get butt-hurt that their favorite team (or fantasy player, or team they bet on) gets jobbed by this (IMO) stupid rule.

    Hey, I don't care for either team ... but Manning barely fell down, let alone took a hit to the knees.

    Exactly. That is the one they put in place after Carson Palmer got his knee blown out on the first series of a playoff game against the Steelers in 2005.

    Then there's Phil Simms, who somehow is refraining from hyping next week's Brady-Manning matchup during the first quarter of today's game.

    I guess he's too busy calling Manning the greatest QB of all time to work that in ... :p

    Is that why it's called the Tom Brady Rule?

    It was originally the Carson Palmer rule. They changed it after the hit on Palmer, which was three years before the one that took out Brady for a season.

    Here's the last thing I'm gonna post on this matter, and I guess this is why the rule interpretation makes no sense to me:

    You are essentially penalizing Bryant for reaching the ball out and trying to break the plane.

    It is almost impossible to coach a receiver -- who is paid millions of dollars to score touchdowns -- to just fall down and curl up into a fetal position with the ball in that situation.

    It goes against every instinct.

    But whatever. I think it's too late for even NFL officials to reverse the call now.

    My guess is: They're both teams in Dallas. And one is REALLY getting its ass kicked.

    Better to lose on a tough call than have your ass wiped by 65?
