Diffuse is the correct word here. Strahan wasn't trying to put out a fire--he created a bigger one, thus diffusing the heat in multiple directions. Just like the hot dog.

Hot dogs do have a lot of sugar in them. Maybe he was on a sugar high. Somewhere "The Babe" was looking down smiling.

    Wait, wait, wait...

You're telling me Strahan doesn't just shove hot dogs through his gap and swallow them hole?

    I'll be damned.

Do you ever watch ESPN? Seriously? Or do you just wait until a female reporter is the topic so you can say "Hot or not?"

As for Strahan, it never gets old seeing him proven, time and again, one of the biggest FRAUDS in sports. A complete two-faced jerk. The Giants will not win a thing til losers like him, Barber and Shockey are out of the organization.

Exactly why I used DIFFUSE. Thank you 21.

which also leads to the question - can he really avoid food coming out when he talks while eating?

Yeah right HB. Strahan would have been spitting you out in little pieces instead of the hot dog.

I know you fancy yourself as a learned man, but in this case, you don't know what you're talking about.

Re: Strahan vs. Reporter ... bizarre

I have mixed feelings about this. Strahan might have taken it a little too personal, but he didn't make it very confrontational. I can only imagine what it would have been like if that was one of the more volatile personalities in the league. No one likes being told how to do their job, though. And I also have to agree with a lot of posters here: this was spin control by Strahan, but I don't see it so much as a negative. He doesn't want to have the season spiral further out of control, so he'll do whatever he can to stop that. One more thing: is he more or less aggressive if that was a guy asking the question?

I'd first let him vent, then try to reason with him. If that still doesn't work, I'd wait until the horde dissipates and try to get him one-on-one, so he doesn't feel cornered in front of a group with cameras on.

But ESPN always talks about how AWESOME Jeremy Shockey is!

You tell him, "Are you disputing you infered on the radio that Plaxico Buress gave up on a route during Sunday's game? Would you like me to read back the quote so you can clarify it for the rest of us?"

You don't back down and you don't let it turn into a soapbox "the media sucks" moment.
If he has issues with a specific line of question and a specific reporter, than let's be specific.
