When you say a teammate "quit,'' even if just on one play, that's serious shit to a pro athlete. To not expect a media reaction is ridiculous. By the way, anybody hear Chris Russo on Wednesday? What a joke

When is Chris Russo NOT a joke?

    Excellent counterpoint, Columbo. Well-done.

Wow, I'm agreeing with RokSki and Columbo. That one moment is why I can't stand Deion Sanders. Not because I'm any big fan of McCarver's, but Sanders was incredibly childish in dealing with something so petty as his team celebrated a dramatic victory that put them in the World Series. It just showed he cared a lot more about his own image than he did about the team's success.

How does Strahan's man-love Jay Glazer defend Strahan on Sunday?

And don't forget about Sterling Sharpe. He probably uttered more F.U.s to reporters during his playing career than anybody, and now he expects people to take him seriously as an analyst. It's like Barry Bonds one day calling the World Series with Joe Buck...As for the Strahan situation, I know it's a story and all, but I can't help but think some dork at ESPN was like, "Hey, let's totally overblow this into a huge national story because he confronted OUR reporter." My guess is that if it was Joe Blow at fill-in-the-blank newspaper, it hardly would have caused a ripple.

'Michael Strahan got into the holiday spirit on Wednesday, when he shared hot dogs with the entire NY media...'

    Maybe.
I also think they overblew it because they know (a) the NY media will, too [re: the back pages], (b) this is a team that could have been considered, three weeks ago, a serious Super Bowl contender [if this happened in Cleveland, it's a one-and-done story], (c) and the Giants-Cowboys game is this weekend and Parcells cutting The Idiot wasn't going to be enough to carry through four days until the game.

On one hand I hope that never happens, but on the other, I know I could not help but watch that train wreck unfold...

Ah snap! Do you mean Leon won't get to call games with Joe Buck?

I suppose it can't be any worse than listening to Al Michaels try to translate Madden-speak into intelligible English

Thursday update from the bowels of Giants Stadium:

Strahan blows off his weekly Thursday media session.
Plaxico says he and Michael talked Wednesday. All is cool, they're best buds again.
Antonio Pierce (reportedly with a smile on his face) and Brandon Jacobs (scowling and dropping F-bombs) go into "the media is against us...nobody believes in us" mode.
Tiki says it's between Mike and Plax. If they say everything's OK, then everything's OK... no problem here.
