don't you get the point...

first offenders get a break. it's fundamental to our criminal justice system. to our ethics and morality.

people are human. they make mistakes.

we are compassionate on the first mistake.

why is that true of armed robbery, assault and battery, and domestic violence, but not PLAGIARISM?

the dreaded PLAGIARISM? unspeakable sin. capital punishment. no mercy.

Plagiarism is not a mistake, it's a conscious decision. In the range of crimes against journalism and the public trust, it's a capital felony.

 

Well, the words are probably spelled right. So that's a plus.

 

Aside from that?

 

Plagiarism is cheating on the profession. You don't get first offense excuses.
