STUNNER: Pluto leaving ABJ for PD

Good for him. The ABJ continues its spiral downfall.

I wonder if he will replace someone. Grumpy ole Bill Livingston looks like he longs to retire when you see him on TV.

 

Gotta think Tom Reed will be offered the chance to come back and fill the columnist role

 

This is a sign of the reversal of fortunes of both papers...15 years ago, morale was supposedly so low at the Dealer, you had to dig for it. The Beacon was coming off another Pulitzer. But Clifton turned things around at the PD, Knight-Ridder corporate started slashing and burning at the Beacon (the original Knight paper), it changed hands and there were more cuts.

I don't know about everyone else, but I want ABJ.

 

Pluto's a stud. No ifs, ands, or buts about it! Look out Big D, the ABJ will be breathing down your necks to get Reed back.

 

i wonder if they'll bother trying to fill this one considering how they've been making cuts.

 

Editor's memo says they intend to fill it. Maybe shuffle the deck chairs from within.

I'd still take the ABJ sports section over the PD's any day of the week, and Pluto's a big reason why. Now that he's leaving, that might change. At least now when I go home to my parent's place, I'll be able to read him in the PD (My dad has wanted to change away from the PD for years now, mom won't let him. Now that Pluto's at the PD, he may change his tune.)

 

I'll actually have a reason to read the Plain Dealer now. That's a big pickup for them. Livingston is as consistently boring and unremarkable as any major market columnist anywhere.
