It's not just "white dorks." Bomani Jones and Deion Sanders, among others, ripped Newton too.

Lots of tough, hard-hitting questions there, boy.

But calling women you don't like clams and pigs is totally cool.

No doubt those were some awesome questions to Newton that should have provoked insightful responses. Even a "how you feel" question and a statement that was just begging to have a "talk about" thrown in somewhere.

We talking about the same Deion that tossed water on Tim McCarver when he was young? Yeah, he can fuck off too.

Someone asked about the fumble. I heard it.

  7. I am thrilled for Wade Phillips. Really happy for him.

Love the shot of the Manning family celebrating the clinching TD. Cooper and (most) everyone smiling, except Eli ...

  8. I only caught the last two minutes of the first half and second half of the game.. Not impressed with CBS' coverage.

I've been rolling my eyes at this for a decade now and probably will for another decade.

Those were four words --- "We had protection problems" --- that came as a DIRECT ANSWER TO A QUESTION about why he was sacked 5 times and hurried a dozen more times after being sacked only about 16 times all season. A completely honest answer to a direct question (that any reporter should cherish; otherwise, why ask the question in the first place?). Four words . . . out of probably 1,000+ he spoke that day after that loss.

One of our copy editors is in the anti-Manning camp and always brings up that snippet as the chief justification. The same copy editor who worships Serena ("I'll shove this fucking ball down your fucking throat") Williams and fails to see the absurdity in her reasoning.

Yep. And you know the firestorm it caused too.

Yep. For about 5 minutes. Tore the team apart so badly that they went out and won the Super Bowl the next season.

If I recall, the problem was that it was preceded by, "I'm trying to be a good teammate here ...," like he was hinting that he was holding back from what he really wanted to say.
