Why not review it? Because all the pointless reviewing just to satisfy message boards, bloggers and talk shows is robbing the joy from our sports, especially for those watching at home, which is the majority of fans.
I can specifically recall only celebrating without reservation one of the Steelers' scoring plays.
That one?
The Roethlisberger run. So I wasted my joy.
Every other play I had to wait. On Harrison's, an obvious touchdown, I had to wait.
On Holmes, I had to wait.
And then, when they finally win the doggone game, you want me to wait for something the booth official could see plainly on 3-4 viewings? The hell with that. It's supposed to be a game. I want the calls to be right, but we're losing the spontaneous joy that is supposed to be part of our games.

Interesting point. I'm very much in the "get it right at all costs" camp, but now that you mention it, I held back celebrating on all three Pittsburgh touchdowns Sunday night. Unfortunately, that is part of football. Great plays get called back all the time on penalties. How is the use of replay that different?

Take Harrison's interception return, for example. I was celebrating during the play because the interception took points away from Arizona. I didn't expect the score to count, but that was because I saw the flag thrown during the play. I assumed it was a hold on the return.

The one time I was guilty of premature celebration was on the safety. I jumped up and cheered when Holmes caught the pass, not realizing that they had thrown the flag. To me, that is just part of watching football.

outofplace.....if you continue to have premature celebrations, speak to a doctor. It's nothing to be ashamed of (that's a lie, it is embarrassing) but I'm willing to bet lots of people at SportsJournalists.com have the same problem.

If the Cardinals win 10-plus games next season and make another postseason reason, that will change the perception of the team the Steelers just beat -- they wouldn't be looked upon as one of the worst teams to ever make a Super Bowl. Think of it like the Giants when they became the team to beat this season: Suddenly, that win against the Patriots in the Super Bowl didn't seem like such an upset.

But I'm not buying the "one of the worst teams to make a Super Bowl" argument to begin with, given that the fact that the spread was less than seven points and that it seemed like national media was split 50-50 on who would win the game. If they were THAT bad, we wouldn't have seen that point spread or so many people picking the Cardinals to either win or at least make it a good game.
