What does it take to reach "great" in your mind?

11th most wins as a coach in the history of the sport, three Super Bowl appearances, one title, 12 playoff appearances (6th best), etc.

Developed two erratic, young QBs into Super Bowl signalcallers.

I agree that Holmgren is an elite coach.

Perhaps 93Devil was doing some goading of his own.

Yes, and I'm sure you know this based on your many deep, personal interactions with him.

Perhaps, but I don't think so.

If you call Holmgren great, you are placing him in the same class as Gibbs, Landry, Lombardi, Walsh, Noll...

I think he is a step below, just like Cowher, all of them.

I'd say he comes in after Shula, Lombardi, Gibbs, Parcells, Noll, Landry, Walsh, Brown, Belichick... Potentially top 10. Definitely still elite.

You evidently don't read your own posts, or can't comprehend what you think. You're very much a Jones backer.

Hank Stram, John Madden, Jimmy Johnson, Marv Levy, Tom Flores, Bud Grant and a few other coaches might disagree. Holmgren is in the top 20, but I think it's in the teens.

People who actually have, you know, interacted with him have told me this. From both high school and college.

And really, it's all right to admit one of your favorite players can also be a complete a-hole as well.

    Yes, they most assuredly are.
Across the board, offense, defense, special teams.

How many thousand of coaches had there been? If you put him in the teens wouldn't that make him a great coach?
