Umm, "the cat" I'm pretty sure refers to Harrison, not TP's cat. I don't think you're helping yourself here.

Simon, let me congratulate you on your ranking list. A valuable addition to NFL discussion, and obviously a labor of love/obsession. It it interesting that the teams atop the list are ones usually put atop rankings of Super Bowl winners made by guesstimate, eyewitness evidence, etc.
My GUESS is that the list slightly underrates Lombardi's Packers, who are still the best team of my lifetime as rated by me. I admit that remembering sports teams of one's youth is a dangerous, unscientific method.
A game between the 1989 49ers and the 1985 Bears would be one hell of a game.

    Nice list.

One question: How is the 85 Bears postseason run "unparalleled?" The Bears outscored their three opponents 91-10 (81 points). The 89 Niners outscored theirs by 100 (126-26).

Both are damn impressive, but I still take the 89 Niners over the 85 Bears.

Yeah, but three of those were by former NFL teams, which skews the math a little.

Bubbler, the 1970-71 W-L records don't tell the entire story, either. For example, Buffalo never won more than four games in 1967, 68, or 69 against AFL-only skeds. They sucked no matter who they played.

As Pseudo pointed out, five of them were won by old line NFL teams. The Dolphins(as mentioned earlier, built almost entire after the NFL-AFL war) and the Raiders are the only old line AFL teams to win a Super Bowl until 1997.

That's true, but Oakland fell from 12-1-1 to 8-4-2 from '69 to '70. Kansas City went from 11-3 to 7-5-2. The Jets from 10-4 to 4-10.

The 1970 NFC playoff teams were 9-1 against former AFL competition that season. Dallas beat Kansas City and Houston, Minnesota beat Kansas City, Boston and lost to the Jets, San Francisco beat Oakland, Denver and Houston, and Detroit beat Oakland and Cincinnati.

    Yeah, I got that.
    I was mocking him.
If you couldn't see the clear application of the blue font on that post, I can't help you.
