"Survivor: China" running thread

I wouldn't even recognize Courtney if I saw her on the street. She looks so different. And Amanda suffered from the same affliction as many survivors before her -- the "OMG I'm going to be the center of attention on national TV, so I'd better get a makeover from some stylist" disease.

I posted one of her pageant glam shots previously in this thread, and I've always maintained I like the island version of her better. Of every girl ever to appear on Survivor, I can't think of one I'd rather wake up to than Amanda.

Shocking that she only got one vote. She didn't acquit herself very well at the final TC, all slumped over and apologetic. And the editing might have given us an inflated view of her standing with the others.

All in all, a pretty solid season.

Amanda lost it at the final TC. If she would have simply said "I feel bad about the lies I told, but I played hard and I told the fewest lies, and that makes me a much better player than Todd, who put himself in positions where he had to lie constantly, or Courtney, who really didn't do shit. I was clearly the best player," she'd have a million dollars.

Instead, she tried to make sad eyes at people.

No questions about Amanda's shorts and yet Probst has no problem asking a guy if he's done the deed with another contestant? No questions on Sherrea's bra? And Aaron seemed to have no problem being screwed over the way he was.
Glad to see James take home the 100k. I wonder if Amanda is going to the next Survivor, but I hope its James.
Stunned that Todd took it all. It always boggles my mind why people act all chummy at the end. Hell, I'd be a vindictive SOB. Anybody know where Courtney works so I can be sure not to tip her?

She really missed a chance, when (I think it was) Jaime asked her to say why she was more deserving than Todd, and she said he put himself in positions where he had to lie more than she did. She should have said, "I went out and won competitions, won immunity, and made it so I could survive without having to manipulate everything every three days."

Did Todd win anything, ever? Amanda should have played up how she physically played the game well. Todd and Courtney were a drain on their teams in every challenge; Amanda was an asset. Because of her incredible, Amazonian body and those tiny shorts and .... uh, sorry, lost my train of thought.

It's too bad Probst tossed the "non-immunity" idol into the fire. That's something I wouldn't mind bidding on.

I agree with a lot of what has already been mentioned on here.

The Courtney remark about Denise was played off as cute and playful, but hopefully she'll get what she truly deserves somewhere down the line. Did they mention on the show about her remark's about Todd and his sister? Even though he won, I'd hope Todd wouldn't be as forgiving as Denise was.

The Denise stuff was uncomfortable. You can't help but feel bad for her to lose her job the way she did. Then having less time to spend with her family? That's rough. Hopefully she'll get a better job offer somewhere that allows her to spend more time with her family. She didn't play a smart game, obviously, but she didn't do anything to deserve getting crapped on by Courtney and then outside the show.

Probst asking about her hair was rough. Why didn't he just say she looked like Joe Dirt?

And asking if that one guy was still a virgin was classy.

    Aaron should have been pissed.

By the end of this season, I was just glad it was over. I wanted Amanda to win, because she actually won something during the game and was shocked she finished behind Courtney.

It seemed to me at least like the most deserving people didn't make it to the end this season, but yet Todd talks about it like he figured out the key to winning Survivor and plans on writing a how-to guide. It took a few dumb decisions (show producers, James, Denise, Amanda) to win up with that final three.

Pretty good year for Mormons - Todd is LDS. He's also gay.
Don't hold your breath waiting for the congratulatory e-mail from Mitt Romney, Todd. Actually, I'd love to see somebody ask Romney about it on the campaign trail, just to see how Damien Thorne reacts.

If you don't think Romney has been playing the same game Todd did on Survivor, you haven't been following his career.
There is a portion of "Under The Banner of Heaven" the book by Jon Krakauer on fundamentalist Mormons about deception. In the book the faith's detractors have said that lying to get ahead isn't deemed a sin by the religion. And for the record, if you are dumb enough to just trust anyone in Survivor, you are bound to lose. Trust, but verify.

Did anyone catch Courtney giving Probst the finger? I thought that was classic...and so classy.
Her hair is ridiculous. Both she and Todd were on CBS This Morning today, but not Amanda, which I don't get.

And the Denise thing...I was happy and not for her. The school's website where she works is down, not surprisingly.

I thought Amanda was a shoo-in for some reason, so I was surprised that Todd got so many jury votes.

Holy crap! I have to be honest and say I haven't been following Survivor China. However, we have an office pool and I got to pick first. I picked Todd because, well he had the look of the sole survivor in my view.

Anyway, I just found out minutes ago I won the office pool. Extra holiday drinking money!

  11. What a sham of a season. I thought that Amanda secured a million with the win at the immunity challenge. But she screwed herself over with her horrible answers in final tribal.

Anyone else think Todd has no idea how to play the game strategically but he was the only one even trying so the rest of the crew was fooled? I am mean pair him up with some of the best strategic players in history and he'd have been one of the first ones gone because he was a whiny little liar that did NOTHING for the tribe. Just because you lie and cheat doesn't mean you are making strategic decisions. He just got lucky to be on a season where no one else felt like making a move, aside from Amanda taking out James. Just sad. It's too bad too, because there were some good things about this season (James is awesome, one of my favorites ever and I am sure he will be the one coming back).

What does everyone think about the next season? Any idea on who is coming back? I would have to think that it would only be post-All Star Survivors. Would they really bring people back for a third trip?

When did she do that? After he asked about her weight?

Courtney was so unlikable. I still don't know how she made it to the end.
