Chicken got offed because he tried too hard NOT to be the leader. He should've at least made some kind of a decision when Pei-Ghee asked him for one.
Any hotness Ashley brought to the party was doused by the nose and lip piercings. BTW, the players were caught by surprise when Probst declared game on - she wasn't dressed appropriately for it, but who was? Given the hot, damp climate, all the guys wearing jeans were equally screwed. Imagine if , say, James was going commando?
Funny to see the tough pro wrestler be the first one to get sick.
I already want Courtney the hell off my TV. The Christian radio talk mistress looks pretty likeable by comparison - I'm waiting for her inevitable conflict with Todd the gay Mormon.

They always pick people who are pretty obvious choices to be the first ones sent home... It's usually an older person and a butchy woman... As soon as the credits were rolling, I told my wife that either Chicken or Denise (the lunch lady) would be the first one sent home... I'd say that happens about 80 percent of the time...

With a lot of these shows, it takes about 3-4 weeks to get into them before you start rooting for people...

Right now, I'm rooting for the grave digger...

Chicken got evicted because he was stupid... Not stepping up as the leader is smart, but you can help make decisions without bossing people around...

I always think getting rid of older and/or rural people early is a mistake. He's probably handy at building things and might be the only person on the tribe to have every built an outdoors fire. (Unless, of course, the girl listed as a hiking guide is on that team.)

I agree... But considering the majority of the contestants are under 30, they usually target the first person who tries to boss them around, causes them to lose a challenge or doesn't fit in...

These idiots always make a senseless first-week eviction and then it takes that tribe about four weeks to recover if it does, and it usually doesn't happen until the merger. How many times must one watch Survivor to see the mistakes of others before you? You must ALWAYS ditch your weakest link first. The oriental lady was it if not Ashley. Seeing next week's promos, Ashley's athleticism comes into play so keeping her might have paid off.

I guarantee you CBS was praying that the wrestler wouldn't be the first to go...

If you could have seen the moving and shaking by show execs and their gophers after tribal council, you'd seen they did more than pray.

The Asian chick was lucky she didn't get nuked. She was a perfect storm of over-the-top weepiness and annoying bossiness.

If you're over the age of, say, 50, you have to wonder if trying out for the show is even worth the effort at this point. Nine times out of ten, you're getting whacked right at the start if you happen to be on the team that loses the first challenge, whether you deserve it or not. Especially if you're a woman -- they generally get tagged with the "weak link" label right away and rarely get the chance to disprove it.

I've already developed a healthy dislike for Christain talk-show lady (you can't show another religion a token amount of respect, even if you disagree with it?) and NYC waitress (yet another annoying big-city asshole).

I'm also pulling for the gravedigger -- although if he makes it to individual immunity challenges he's DOA the first time he loses one. Nobody with a physique like that is going to be able to fly under the radar.

I'm curious to see if he's smart enough to align himself with the right people...

No but the muscle guys are going to do well as long as they keep winning challenges.

As far as the Christian gal, she didn't disrespect any other religion; she just chose not to participate based on her own values. I guess because she's a Christian and not a Muslim, that's wrong?

The biggest problem I had with her was how she came out of the temple and said something about not being a religious person, yet she couldn't participate in the ceremony. But I did like her talking up and encouraging the gravedigger.
