Survivor: One World

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by MTM, Feb 16, 2012.

  1. So I'm assuming the voting went the way it did last night in case Troyzan had the idol and he was going to use it on Tarzan? I'm really confused by how it went down. If my memory serves, Tarzan actually voted for Leif which really makes no sense.

Christina, Alicia, Tarzan and Leif were complete imbeciles NOT to join Troyzan. Hell, if I was one of them, I not only would push to make that my group of five but I'm taking Troy to the finals where every woman on the jury would absolutely despise him.

I give Kim credit for being the best player there but there have been numerous opportunities to change this game and nobody has seized them.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt to Christina and Alicia - maybe they figure if they get down to five girls they (and Katt) can make the final three (which is more likely than if they were in a final five with Troy and the two idiots)
Tarzan voting for Leif makes absolutely no sense. If he votes Kim and they go to a revote, maybe someone switches, maybe they go to the rocks - still better odds.

Pilot, I'm not sure why you would think Alicia would like her chances in challenges against Kim, Chelsea and Sabrina (Kat, I'll give you). Alicia sucks at challenges. She would have had a better chance against Tarzan, Leif and Christina (not Troyzan) in challenges.

Tarzan, Leif, Christina and Kat will not win a single immunity challenge. Guaranteed.

Troyzan is in do-or-die mode at every competition, but one factor he has in his favor is every other strong male competitor is gone. He's clearly the favorite in challenges right now.

I definitely think Alicia and Christina were dumb to not flip this week. Nine players left is an ideal time to make a big move like that. It gets you the top five and from there you've got a decent shot of making the final three.

Once it's down to seven, Christina and Alicia are clearly going to be the first two on the chopping block, probably with Kat going third.

The biggest mistake Troy and Tarzan made was not forcing the girls in their Manono (?) tribe to PROVE they were loyal to the alliance. Once they allowed a guy to be voted off, they had to force the girls to vote off a woman from the other tribe and even up the numbers.

If the girls voted off one of their own, Jay and Troyzan aren't susceptible to an all-woman alliance and it would have strengthened their alliance because the other women would have seen it as a tribal vote, rather than a gender vote.

If the girls still voted off Jonas, Jay and Troy would have been sure that their alliance with the women was broken and they could have worked to try to swing one vote to their side. They might still have failed, but Jay wouldn't have been blindsided either.

Instead, they voted with the women and didn't force a decision. It left the waters a little muddier and Jay was the victim.

  4. And Jay and Troyzan were never on the same page which ultimately will be their undoing. The week that Jay was suspicious, Kim (brilliantly) manipulated Troy to think that Mike was out to get him but Jay never mentioned to Troy that he was suspicious of the girls which might have made Troy question Kim and at least speak to Mike about her accusation.

The following week, Jay somehow became less suspicious (I suppose because they stuck to the "plan" to vote off Mike though he failed to see that was an easy ruse for Kim to use while still voting off a guy and advance the women. Then Troy became suspicious. To his credit, he at least tried to get Jay to open his eyes but Jay was too dense to see it.

Kim has done a nice job and pressed the right buttons at the right times. But this crop of guys couldn't be more futile.

I'm glad Colton is gone because he was a vile person and watching him made me uncomfortable but this game would be A LOT more interesting if he was still around.

I thought about that, and I think it was the right move for Tarzan, so long as he knew Alicia wasn't going to switch. A 3-3-3 tie would have led to a vote among the remaining six, which would have meant four core women and Troy and Christina. Someone would have had to switch to make it 3-3, and they wouldn't have done that b/c none of those six would risk their game by drawing rocks.

This way, Tarzan made sure he wasn't the one who lost out on a re-vote, thus guaranteeing himself another week. Now if Troy loses immunity, Tarzan gets at least two more weeks. That's two more weeks for something to blow up, for one of the core girls to get uncomfortable and flip on their teammates.

Fair enough on the challenges. Maybe her odds aren't as good as I made it out to be, but they're not zero, either.

The problem for Alicia with flipping is she doesn't necessarily move up. She's probably No. 5 with either the women or the guys/Christina group. And without Alicia flipping, it didn't make sense for any of the others to flip.

Between Christina and Alicia, I'm not sure which would be No. 5 in a group with Leif, Tarzan and Troyzan. She has the potential to be the No. 4 in that group, one immunity win away from the final three.

But for the sake of argument, let's say she's No. 5 either way. As it stands, she's now No. 5 against a solid core four. If she flipped, she'd be No. 5 in a group that would basically be her and Christina vs. Tarzan and Leif, with Troy as a floater vote (he doesn't seem to have much of a relationship with Leif and Tarzan).

I think her chances of reaching the final three in that group would have been 50/50. It's zero with this group of women unless she wins two or three immunity challenges.

So Kim is going to win this thing. Any chance of her getting taken out before the final seems to be gone now.

I'm disappointed to see Troyzan booted because he was the second-best player in the game. The last two weeks he played about as hard as I've seen anyone play the game and, unfortunately, there were too many people trying to stay one more week instead of trying to win.

Troy's big blunder came a few weeks ago when he was duped by Kim into voting off Mike. His departure was inevitable after that, but he certainly went down fighting.

Tarzan really cost the guys (and himself) any hope of winning. His strategy of "I'm just going to do whatever the girls tell me" is just dumb. He's not going to win any immunity challenges.

At some point in this game, people need to realize they need an alliance to survive and Tarzan, for some damn reason, thinks he's safest by aligning with people who are systematically voting off every single male.

The One World idea I thought was a good one because it looked like it was going to make for unstable alliances, but they really need to shake things up next season.

I feel like we're seeing the same challenges over and over again at this point. I can't think of any that were really "new" and there even some challenges repeated within this season.. Hell, according to Dalton Ross' recap, they're on an island off Samoa, and apparently, it's the same island they used for Survivor: South Pacific. WTF?

It seems like they have gotten pretty lazy and formulaic with the show.
Segment 1: Return from tribal, bitch and moan, one person says, "Well, now I have to fight."
    Opening credits
    Commercial

Segment 2: Reward challenge. People act as if they haven't seen real food in a month, even though it's only been two days since the last reward challenge.
    Commercial
    Segment 3:
Some people enjoy reward, others bitch about not getting reward or not getting chosen to join those with reward. Person on the chopping block says to camera, "I have to win today or I'm going home. It's that simple."
    Commercial
    Segment 4:
"Come on in, guys!" Immunity challenge begins. Cameras strategically avoid gratuitous butt shots of women crawling through sand, one person or tribe takes big lead, Probst says "Tribe B/Person B getting back in this thing!" Tribe/Person B makes it close, but Tribe/Person A pull it out anyway. Probst: "I know one thing, it's going to be an interesting afternoon back at camp" as contestants make agreeing faces. Person on chopping block (POCB) says, "I'm not done yet."
    Commercial
    Segment 5:
Back at camp. Person on the chopping block somehow gets time alone with every possible swing vote. Possible swing vote interviews with camera man and says, "He/she makes a really good point. I don't know what I'm going to do tonight." But he or she knows they are going to do exactly what has been planned all along.
Tribal council begins. Probst dares underdogs to have the balls to make move. Provokes people to divulge their entire strategy, often telling the underdogs that they are next in line. Voting begins. They show POCB write down name, POCB says confidently, "You're going home tonight, Puppet Master." They show one vote for POCB with requisite rude comment. They show others writing, but don't reveal vote. Probst tallies the votes. He reads names. Eyes roll, smirks emerge, frowns furrow. Vote goes exactly as you knew it would during Segment 1.
    Commercial
    Final Segment:
Scenes from next week appear to show shakeup within an alliance, but you know better. You know better. Exit interview: "I played as hard as I could and I wouldn't change a thing," but you know they would if they could. You know they would.
Up next, an all-new Criminal Minds!

    Spot on, that.

  11. I don't even care to discuss the game anymore. It's been over for a few weeks.

But I will say that Chelsea in a bikini makes this show worth continuing to watch.

    Also, Kat is batshit.

Even as late as last week, Troy had a chance to switch this up. Tarzan screwed it up by voting for Leif.
Kim should want to go the final with Kat and Tarzan.
    Chelsea won't see it coming.
Christina's dangerous to everyone because she's too easily duped.
Both Alicia and Sabrina are smart enough to steal this from Kim.
I think the end game could be very good in what has been a terrible season.

Also, thank you for the return of reward challenges. Much more interesting than resurrection island.
