Heard on the radio today in the car that the alleged experts are saying this may not be what was feared.

Excuse me, but has Obama unleashed billions to address this issue? Someone please stop the check and let Mexico handle its own problems.

Because when someone on the radio says something might be true, we better listen.

Yeah and if this happens four years ago, you don't say a fucking word. Well, except about the Mexico thing. You'd still hate foreigners.

No, I hate foreigners who are in this country sapping us of resources we pay for and insisting we embrace their culture as ours, including dual language education. As an elective, yes. As a requirement for school systems to educate both ways in every subject, hell no. And no, I'd said it with Bush. You know, I also said he cost us more money on a war we should have entered but could have done a better job finishing with a better border seal and bringing the low-level portions of Saddam's army into the security issue. They weren't all hardcore Baathists, they were just going along to get along.

Of course, border issues aren't something we're very competent with anyway.

    Ah hell, here we go.

    Here we go?

OK. Let's invite as many French over and start a third language and culture, tax-free of course. The way this country is changing now, they'll never know they're away from home.

I meant, "Here we go. A thread about swine flu turns into someone bitching about illegal immigration."

You want to gripe about it? Great. Start a new thread entitled "Illegal Immigration Sucks" and go to town.

But don't hi-jack a thread with something that you know is eventually going to get it locked.

My initial post said nothing about illegal immigration. It said "let the Mexicans handle their own problems." The heaviest concentration of this epidemic is there. Then someone said I hate Mexicans, to which I responded my opinion on Mexico.

So a bunch of schools in Michigan are closed this week over swine flu concerns. Kids from two of them were at a track meet the team I coach attended this weekend. Yay.

We had one get shut down for the week starting tomorrow.

I believe its athletes which qualified for the state track meet over the weekend aren't going to be allowed to compete.

Friday, we had two "suspected cases" in our town. I asked news if they had heard anything else. Their response? "No one's probably there that can give us information." Got to love that effort.

So to anyone in Texas or Alabama, is the delayed athletics events screwing ups state coverage plans? I know if that happened in our neck of the woods, we'd be screwed. A lot of furloughs planned for after state-tournament week, mine included. I'm in my best friend's wedding that weekend and would not be coming close to the office.
