A Richardson, Texas elementary school discovers one student with a confirmed case of swine flu ... and shuts the school down for the rest of the week.

I keep waiting for the local preachers to say that the swine flu is humanity's punishment for disobeying Leviticus on the pork thing, but they're strangely quiet.

Maybe they loves them some Jimmy Dean sausage!

Love the local TV stations, EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SWINE FLU! Worry about your kids! Do you need to get a mask?

Well, no reported cases in the area. If you're sick, stay home from school and wash your hands. Back to you, Stu and April.

Though I could see the Minutemen faction use this to crack down on the border, and I don't know if I'd disagree.

The cable newsers are loving this story. They were in full panic mode today.

Sure enough, right-wing talk radio has found something new to blame on illegal immigrants.
Michael Savage has even gone as far as to suggest that it's a terrorist plot by Muslims to have flu-infected Mexicans cross the border and infect Americans.
This guy really has a Ph.D.?

He has a Ph.D. in medical quackery AKA homeopathy. I listened to him on the drive home from work tonight and he was advocating people not to vaccinated against the flu.

    What an asshole.

Twitter is now being blamed for spreading swine-flu panic. I learned of that ... via Twitter, of course.

Also, xkcd is on the story! :D http://xkcd.com/574/

No swine flu in the resort areas on the Pacific or the Yucatan Peninsula. FWIW most of the Canadian Tour Operators are cancelling their Mexican holiday packages for May.

If you have not booked yet do a bit of shopping and you may get a fantastic deal as the Canadians and Euros are cancelling.
