Agreed. Left alone. However, I was at the gym the other day after a class and this woman in the class comes up to me as I'm changing and tries to sell me some kind of diet supplement. I was horrified that this woman would try to sell her crap at the gym - I don't pay good money to be bothered.

It depends. It is early, I am not a morning person and I never have as much time as I want. And I pretty much keep music blasting in my ears from the moment I leave home... So I am pretty focused. I also work myself pretty hard for at least 45 minutes and need to concentrate during that time to get through it so I am not idly talking to people.

But man are there some beautiful women at my gym. If one of them happens to strike up a conversation (doesn't happen often), I am not going mute. And a couple of the personal trainers who are there all the time talk sports or fitness with me sometimes and I am not a dick trying to be left alone.

Oddly, I will talk to this one guy I see a lot of days, who fled my old gym for this new gym around the same time I did. I don't talk to him out on the floor, but we do the latent homo thing and talk while we are in towels shaving and stuff. Just "what's up?" kind of stuff.

Was that an answer? For the most part I just want to be left alone and I have music blasting in my ears for more than an hour and a half...

Left alone. Quiet time for me. The gym is a place to get my head together and have a few minutes of peace. I don't wear headphones, don't watch the television and don't particularly care about the music that's playing. That said, I promise thst I'm not rude whe npeople come up and visit. I'm glad though that they don't set up camp.

It's the only time I get to myself, so I keep to myself, although I won't be rude.
As someone else mentioned, I don't wear headphones, watch TV or really notice what music is playing.

I don't mind talking before or after the workout, but not during the workout (unless I'm aksing for a spot or if I can work in with somebody.)

I have no desire to share more than a sentence with someone at any one time.

    'You done with your sets?'
'Can I jump in real quick?'

    That's about it.

Also, Idaho, my guy from the bike store had the day off today! Have to wait until tomorrow to pick up my new toy.

A great, FREE, resource to track your daily food intake.

My daily food intake isn't something I want to feel guilty about by keeping track of. I consider my cycling, rowing, yagolates, swimming and such as a free eat-like-a-pig card every couple of days. :)

Oh I had fried catfish, shrimp, fries and hush puppies last night.

Do I feel at all guilty? Nope because I swam over a mile in the pool about 3 hours prior.

I am going to be interested in seeing the numbers though.

Back in the day I worked as a summer camp counselor as a teenager. Once per week, we'd have a mile swim in the lake. I did it every week and was pretty proud to say I did 12 mile swims without really overdoing myself.

My form and swim endurance are all but gone now, though. I've got the night off today and will ride my bike to/from the gym, swim at least 750m and then test the new running shoes on the treadmill for a 5k.

I've got to get my arse in gear since my triathlon in now just two weeks away.

That's the wrong attitude, guys. Your diet has more impact on your weight and your overall health than exercise (not that exercise isn't of major importance), unless you are spending hours upon hours burning off calories every day. The time spent in the gym is fantastic, but you shouldn't use it as an excuse to eat too many calories and strain your heart with fatty foods. The gym doesn't offset the bad you are doing with a poor diet.
