Men lose weight more quickly than women on Weight Watchers. It was a teensy bit demoralizing to have lost "only" 2 lbs. in a week when the males in the group would lose 7 or 8.

    True.

I'm doing it different now. I joined the gym in February 2006 and tipped in at 284 pounds. Nearly 18 months later of gymwork, cutting out 95 percent of the crap food and making other small lifesetyle adjustments, I'm down about 60 pounds.

It's not about a quick loss. It's about a change in lifestyle. It works only if you want it to.

And in one fell swoop, Xan has summarized my feelings on weight loss/physical fitness. You have to want it, not the chicks who like guys with sculpted abs or the guys who like chicks with firm, svelte posteriors. It has to be for the person in the mirror.

Thanks dude, and congratulations. Keep up the good work.

I've probably posted this article before several pages ago on this thread, but I think it's something everyone who is trying to lose weight needs to read.
It takes time, it takes effort, but the more drastic your approach, the less likely you'll stay with it over the long haul.

Ran a 5K yesterday for the first time since.....ever...I think.

25:55, I was 6th in my age group, 62 overall out of 160 or so folks.

Having been a hoops player and high jumper in high school, this is the farthest I've ever run.

Four months ago I was a 230 lb smoker who couldn't run 100 feet. Now I'm at 203 and can run 3.1 miles. Woo. Hoo.

Good job, G. I just signed up for a 5k on Labor Day weekend.

I had dropped 20 lbs. over the winter thanks to a combination of eating smart, working out like a fiend (an hour a day on the elliptical five or six days weekly) and just general willingness to lose weight.

I moved in March. I stopped working out, even though my new building has a fitness room with two treadmills, a bike and an elliptical. I've gained all 20 lbs. back and added five more, all in the span of three months.

I so need to get back on the wagon.

Here are the results from my second-week weigh-in ... (drumroll, please) ... I'm down another nine pounds. That makes 14 pounds in two weeks. 14 down, 101 to go

Great job. I'm down 11 pounds in two weeks. I'm not sure how much I intend to lose, but the more the merrier.

Can you notice any difference? I have more energy, that's for sure.

    Stupid question:

Is investing in some creatine or similar product worth while? I'm not a body builder by any means, but I'd like to add some muscle mass and power to my legs and chest. I know it'll turn me to flab if I don't work out. I'm logging 100-150 miles of hard cycling per week in addition to some running, swimming and occasional light weights, and wouldn't mind increasing my power and climbing ability.

Just lift and eat protein. You don't need the fake stuff.
