I'm going to find a nice sprint tri to do later this summer. I did the one, enjoyed it actually, and think doing one or two sprint tris per year would be a very good way to balance my fitness.

Ugh. My third-week weigh-in reveals that somehow, someway I gained five pounds. I'm not sure how, but I'm ready to vomit. This is disheartening, to say the least. Nine down, 106 to go (yaaay, I'm going backward!!! awesome!!!).

Hey man. Just turn that disappointment into motivation. Throw on your shoes and run, or walk. You could be down three pounds the next time you get on the scale. I've been checking my weight throughout the day just to see how it fluctuates. And it swings three to four pounds pretty easily. One trip to the racquetball court takes about three pounds off. A day of heavy soda drinking can add three pounds. The important thing is that you're still sticking to a program that you know will result in weight loss.

I'm nuts. Just signed up for THIS and hope to finish before the winners all ride back down the hill.

It's only 15 miles. Should be no problem, right? But it's 15 miles of uphill for 3,800 feet in elevation gain.

Sooo glad I have the night off before and can get some sleep before I kill myself. Anything above DFL in my group will be a good result.

No problem, Ides. Drop it on the little ring and spin away. :)

    Serve,

I just got out of the pool for my workout. I'd never calculated a T-pace before so I figured I'd better get on it before the race this weekend.

    I did 1000m in 14:21, or a T-pace of 1:26. Checked with my trainer...apparently that's fast for a triathlon swimmer.

I want to finish in 90 minutes. that's my goal. I've been doing a few climbs in smaller canyons for training lately, but can never find the time (or time of day) to hit that canyon for a test drive.

This will be my first time from bottom to top in this one. 10mph gets me there in 90 minutes.

Damn, dude, I think my fastest 1,000 before Ironman was around 15:30. You're doing all right, I'd say.

Open water swimming will slow you down. I thought I was doing well with my training. When I did my actual tri in open water, I was 6 minutes slower than my previous indoor training swim.

I'm counting on slowing down just a little bit, but not by much.

you seem to be a strong swimmer. That was my week spot because I've developed a bit of a phobia (or something like it) about my face in water. I have no idea why, but doing the normal freestyle stroke for me is difficult and I struggle with the breathing technique. If you've got that down, I imagine you are in good shape.
