Well the rumor is now a duathlon because of all the high water. Lame.

They do that to us out here sometimes when the wind is too strong or the water is too cold. One dead swimmer is all it takes ...

The beach they usually start from is underwater. We used a boat ramp for the clinic last weekend. I think the fear may be someone getting caught up in a tree. There is also a massive amount of debris, not big logs but just gunk near the shores coming off what used to be dirt, trails, woods etc.

Random question and I thought the healthy folks could help me: How do I keep bananas from going bad within 2 days. I tried to get healthier by buying some fruit recently and the damn bananas start turning black within 2 days of buying them. I live in an extremely dry region, so I don't know if there is any way to keep this from happening.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Eat 'em faster.

they go bad on us, too. Of course, that just means they become banana bread or banana cookie ingredients.

I ran a 5K yesterday, finished in 16:57. Not bad for running two miles in two weeks.

I figured that might be all I could do. I guess I just will only buy two or three at a time.

I'm not sure if there is something you can do. I have a household of six and when I buy a bunch o' nanas they're gone in a day or two and I often don't even get one unless I eat it on the way home from the store.

That's pretty much why I stopped buying them more than one at a time. I got tired of buying five and only getting to eat two before they turned.

At my grocery store, the best bananas are still in the boxes, which are tucked under the banana table. They're still green, but they're ripe within two days. Ask the produce guy, and he'll get you some from the back room. You can also peel them and freeze them in ziplock bags. Works great for smoothies.

Yep, officially canceled the swim this weekend.

    So it's now a duathlon.

    .6 mile run
    17.6 mile bike
    3.1 mile run

Words can not express my disappointment.

Especially if you cannot use them properly.

    ;-)

    Good luck on your race.
