Heineken, since when does SportsJournalists.com hold its athletes to the same grammatical standards as other sports journalists?
    Just look the other way.

I'm just tired of writing G-Spot's term papers while he's out there flailing around in the water like a drunken carp.

Personally, I'd be elated if they cut out the swimming portion of the race. In fact, I'd encourage them to just cancel the last two legs and make it a .6 mile run.

After all, I broke my healthy eating last night with two of my cheesburgers, a mesquite chicken breast, some incredible homemade cole slaw, a mountain of potato salad, all the remaining beers from my fridge and, as a nightcap, two big-ass brownies. I waddled to the scale this morning like I was headed to the gas chamber.

Well, thanks, Heinekan. I just gained a pound reading your post.

The thing is...I haven't been a sports journalist since 12/31. I'm just a regular old journalist these days.

That really does explain how you find the time to do triathlons. I bike, run and lift weights. There's no way I can fit swimming in there.

Just have to sub the swim one or two days a week in the place of the running or biking.

Swim twice a week, run twice a week, bike twice a week and you still have a 'recovery' day if you want.

When I was training for a tri, I'd do it at the gym and time it so I'd have a 750m swim, run up to the spinning studio for an hour and then run on the treadmill or indoor track for 5k. That would more than cover my tri distances and take just about two hours total with the transitions. Did that once a week and then spread the different workouts on the other days.

I went to the desk so I'd have time to train. That and I wasn't getting anywhere as a writer.

    Not being married helps, too.

And no girlfriend...or pets.....and regular hours...and a gym 2 miles from the house.

    It works out nicely.

I manage to get in 100-150 miles in the saddle every week and I'm married with four kids and a job.

If it's important to you, you'll find the time to do it.

Sleep is the thing I've decided to give up on.

Buy them when they're greenish, not yellow with spots.

    T1 - 1:44
    17.6 mile bike --52:39 - 20.1 mph
    T2 - 1:47
    3.1 mile run -- 29:17 - 9:27/mile
