Just thinking about riding in traffic like that makes me queasy. You're a braver man than I.

I actually got the idea from a magazing, Bicycle or Bicycling (I forget). They said to wake up 70 minutes early every day. 10 minutes to get settled, get on your bike and 60 minutes to ride. They said the first three weeks would be rough, but then it gets ingrained in your body's biological clock.

Got up again today at 5:30. Went for a short 12-13 mile ride. Loved it. So far so good.

This morning I rolled out the driveway at ~7:30.

Totals (according to the Garman 305 GPS bike computer): 57.74 miles, 3,686 feet of climbing, 16.8 mph average speed, three deer (mom and two fawns), countless squirrels and chipmunks, couple hundred other cyclists, two packs of Jelly Belly Sport Beans, one Hammer Gel and three water bottles.

Oh, and that is less than one third of the race I have planned for Sept. 6

I'm about halfway through my 30-day Curves fitness study. I'm still eating junk, so I haven't seen any significant changes... aside from the lovely injury I inflicted on Day Two. I just started doing abs with the un-trainer after my half-hour circuit, since I'm not usually tired enough.

My doctor suggested adding a half-hour of cardio, three days a week. Curves is about a mile walk, round trip, from my apartment. Is there a way to make that count as fat-burning "cardio?" The half-hour workout is starting to take up entirely too much time!

At the risk of sounding 'mannish,' I pushed a 195 squat for five reps last night. According to the exrx.net 1RM calculator, I should be able to do a 219 squat.

On Friday, with a spotter and sufficient rest to my gams (that's a total chick word, you know), I'll be attempting a 215. If that's done well enough, I'll throw on another 220.

For my bodyweight, according to the exrx standards chart, that puts me at Advanced to Elite.

    BOOYAH!

    Nice job, Flasher.

But what are you doing, training for World's Strongest Canuckistani?

Well, Seattle and those big-ass casa Babar burgers kicked me good, and I managed to gain, like, seven pounds on the trip. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the three or four cases of beer (real beer, not that Miller Lite or Bud Light shit -- I'm looking at you Mr. Sxy and Angola!) might have had a little to do with it. When I stepped on the scale and had to keep sliding the pound counter to the right, to the right, to the right -- that sucked.

Today, the first day of working out since last Monday:
Shoulder press (60 pounds), back extentions, 21 reps each, seven rounds. Took me 24:53.

Twenty minutes on the stairclimber, 2.18 miles and 104 floors.

    Hanging L, five sets.

    I lost two pounds.

Yeah, I hear that. I'm the same way, actually.

Just don't overdo it. You don't need to wind up on crutches or something.

I live in the world of 'overdo.' Haven't you seen the size of my dog? ;)

    Yeah, I have.

But just in case, I have a spare pair of crutches and one of those walking boots should you need either, or both :D
