    Ah. An Olympic distance.

That's more attainable, obviously. I'm not sure I'd ever be able to do an Ironman distance, maybe a 70.3. I hope to do an Olympic distance one day. But I'm still working on my sprint goal at the moment. In fact, I'm going on a two-hour bike ride in the rain this afternoon.

Tonight in my boxing class, I was practicing combinations with a 15-year-old. He was stronger and quicker than I was and one punch got through, giving me a bloody nose.

I hope you went MMA on him and swept the leg, followed it up with a forearm to the neck and stomped on his balls.

For me, I'm getting close to killing myself. I have a 170-mile, 9,000-feet of climbing race in 17 days and the biggie just five weeks after that. I know I have a ton of training left to do, but my worry is overtraining and being too tired to race properly.

I'm afraid I'll look at myself, feel unprepared and then throw in a 100-mile canyon ride when I really should rest that day.

Having swum the 'Bay' twice as a distance runner and mediocre biker, I would recommend training in and preparing for rough water breathing conditions. Forget pool times because tri conditions will quickly melt into survival thrashing which will surely bust your performance in the bike/run stages. The swim is critical in setting the psychological table and you need to train for rough conditions. I just returned from a distance swim in a slightly windy bay and can attest to necessity of training for breathing and stroke adjustments for waterboarding water breaking overhead . Good luck.

51 miles yesterday with moderate climbing.
70 miles today with minimal climbing.

Next week, if I can find the time anywhere at all, I'll be doing a lot of climbing during the week. Saturday is a 50-mile Cat 4 race followed by a 75 mile ride home over some mountains.

Yes. I read some stuff by Dave Scott on swimming on open, rough water. I'm still a little hesitant to try it because, frankly, I'm a little scared of currents and big waves. But I'll hit the open water once I have a strong stroke.

Two weeks of doing nothing but drink beer. Can't wait to get to the gym tomorrow. Today is my last day of rest.

Fuck, Flash, are you my female doppelganger? Same here.

And for anybody wanting info on triathlons, PM ServeItUp. He's done a shitload of them. And his goal is one in every state in the Union. He's a scrawny fucker, but he's a badass, too.

Oh my god. Weak weak weak.

Today, for the first time in two weeks, working out at home:
    50 pullups in 9:47, 100 pushups in 8:30, 150 squats in 6:20. On June 23 the times were 9:13, 7:02 and 5:28.

The hole I've ripped in my left palm is opened up again, and I'm gonna be sore all over tomorrow. Shit.

That's what two weeks off gets me. Flash?

Just got in ... went down in weights and up in reps, just to get back into the swing of things. After two weeks of push/pull cycles, I'm going back to my favourite workout. It was designed by my current trainer's older brother. He got me.

Did 10 minutes of HIIT and then walked the dog for a few minutes.

On a side note, I was chatting with my trainer, post-workout, and this huge guy comes up ... I mean, 5-foot-8 and almost as wide. Ripped. Trainer starts commenting on what a beast he is and the guy points at me and says, 'yeah, but have you seen her squat?'

Feels good to impress the big boys.

Flash, I was just trying to be nice. I'm not really that impressed by your squat.

I got up at 6:45 a.m. and rode 20 miles in my living room today. I rode with a bunch of guys in tights. After a warm-up, we rode 13 miles up the side of a mountain. It was a 6.9 percent incline. For me, that meant turning the resistances up to 8. I'm not sure that compares, but that's all I could handle. In fact, I think the bike only goes up to 10. I really want one that you can turn up to 11. Now that would be cool.

Anyway, my legs went from Jello to something I can best describe as numb cylinders. They're much heavier than they were at 6 a.m. I ate an apple and a egg and cheese biscuit while I was on the bike. I also drank a quart of water.

Now I have to go shopping for crayons, book bags, lunch boxes and that sort of thing. But I can't seem to get Adrian moving.
