Probably related to what I ate the night before

    Which was?

(Not being nosy, I'm just really into the science of this stuff.)

I had a hefty bowl of pasta for lunch.

For dinner, we stopped at a pizza joint and I -- being extremely hungry -- ate six slices of pizza, three slices of garlic toast and a green salad.

On race day, I had a couple of slices of bread and a banana when I woke up at 4:30 a.m. then popped a GU gel 20 minutes before the race and washed it down with a bottle of water mixed with a prerace energy mix.

During the first transition, I popped another gel and then drank two bottles of fluid mixed with a protein/carb/electrolyte mix the pros swear by. I also had a bottle of heed during handed up from an aid station.

During the run, I had another gel to start and then electrolyte or water at the aid stations. At Mile 8 I took a half banana and then a shot of Coke at Mile 11.

I think I might enjoy this new school schedule.

I drop the kids off at school and point my bike up a mountain.

Today's ride was short -- just 16.7 miles to the turnaround. But it included 4,092 feet of vertical and I was back home in time to pick up the little dude from kindergarten.

That little store is at the Brighton Ski Resort parking lot near SLC. The sign says Elevation 8,735.

I think I'll do this ride twice a week as long as Mother Nature allows me to.

Just nine days until my second LOTOJA -- 206 miles in one day.

I consider Fatty a friend. I'm wearing the new WIN (tear drop) t-shirt right now.

Awesome. I read his blog periodically, but hadn't since Leadville. Off to go check out the new jersey now.

Dear fellow lifter at Gold's Gym:

I know. I know. You're really tired after doing those leg presses, the ones where you loaded eight plates on each side and four more on top. Here's the funny thing. You didn't actually lift that weight. You pushed about two inches without bringing the weight down, flipped the clamps and got up like you had actually done something. Actually, douche, you did nothing. Perhaps you should consider using a weight you can actually do the lift properly at.

Oh, and another thing. You were so tired that you just left all that weight on the leg press. Just walked away. Maybe your parents brought you up that way. Not mine. If I left my shit scattered all over the house, I got called on it. Yelled at. Taught me a sense of responsibility. You don't own the place. Quit acting like you do.

So there was a woman that wanted to use the leg press after you kindly left half a fucking ton of weight on there. She was in fine shape, but like most women, she was unable to leg press 985 pounds. As you walked around the gym like a douche, she was trying to get plate after plate off the damn machine so she could do her exercises. I helped, because I have a sense of chivalry.

Please, people. RE-RACK YOUR FUCKING WEIGHTS WHEN YOU'RE DONE WITH YOUR EXERCISES. IT'S NOT MY JOB.

    Hugs and kisses,
    Cos
