Re: Take care of yourself (LiveSTRONG)

Decided to get back to doing extra PT on my own. Before I slacked off, I'd do sets of pushups every hour for about 3-4, sometimes 5 hours per day. I got up to sets of 35 pushups, doing 4 or 5 sets. Started back yesterday at 20 pushups per set and will up the amount as I get more comfortable.
I have a PT test in the middle of October and want to see if I can top my total of 43 in April. Any advice y'all could offer would be appreciated.

I would work on chin-ups, Joseph.
Strengthening much more of your overall body.

Able to cobble together a basic chest and arms day using the hotel equipment ... got to be creative ... dumbbells only went up to 50 so I did bench presses on a Swiss ball. Did some dips by using the arms of two treadmills. Knocked out three sets of 20 pushups, a couple of sets of biceps curls. Not bad.

Did my 11 pullups yesterday at home.

Today I'm all weirded out on anesthesia and Vicodin. Sinus surgery sucks..But what sucks worse is I'll be out of action for a good week or so.

I think the Crossfit movement is pretty cool. I enjoy doing the workouts (the one or two I can actually do) and think they can be very worthwhile. But this piece trashing Crossfit is hilarious.

This ever happen to anyone else? Last few weeks, while dead lifting, once I'm done with a really heavy set I sort of get light-headed, to varying degrees. Never to the point where I've passed out or fallen, but still noticeably light-headed none the less. It's usually only when I'm past the 300 pound mark, though, and only when I'm dead lifting. WTF?

Sonner ... I laughed at some of the stuff in that article as well. Especially on the pullups. There's no way to do some of the pullup sets CF prescribes without either kipping or using machine/band assistance. If I had to do the 100 pullups for Angie as strict pullups, it would take me a friggin' hour.

I've taken to mixing CFit type workouts with regular weight workouts. I think there's a benefit to both. And I definitely scale down the prescribed weights when my form starts getting out of whack. I'm not willing to get hurt for it.

I feel varying degrees of lightheadedness during or after damn near every workout I do.

May be a blood pressure problem.
    Or a blood sugar issue.
Are you working out before you have eaten and digested a meal?
You need some fuel to get thru a tough workout.

Doing so many Olympic lifts with CrossFit, it's fascinating to watch the weightlifting in the Olympics, especially how low these guys/girls get on the catch on the clean portion of the clean and jerk. Some of the weight these athletes are pushing proportional to their body size is just amazing.

Rode eight miles this morning, then did the CrossFit WOD.

    Clean and jerk, 3-3-3-3-3

Got 115-125-135-145-155 pounds. Then realized a small Chinese man probably C&Jd 240 at the Olympics. Sigh.

Filthy fifty is today's WOD on the main Crossfit page. May wait until tomorrow to do it but I'm curious to see how much better I am at it than when I tried it in January.
