Just got the 90s up for a rep. Just one, but still - feels good to be a gangster.

My new favorite exercise is the battle ropes. Never tried them until about a month ago, but they're a great complement to rounds on the heavy bag.

I had access to large ropes for obstacle courses while I was in command at Campbell. We cut off a 50-foot section, I bought a large eye bolt at Home Depot, and one of my handier Soldiers drilled it through the block walls in our prison gym. They were awesome. Smoke the shit out of you.

My guess is he means sparse.

Oh, OK. I started thinking of Sandusky and prison rape.

More spartan than sparse. We had a rickety bench, 300 pounds of weights I bought off craigslist, a tire and sledgehammer, battle ropes, chains, a pull-up bar. And the highest PT score in the battalion.

    What is it?

I have started, just this week, alternating light and heavy days. The difference isn't so big - on "light" days, I'm doing sets of 80s (i.e. two 80-pound dumbbells), for 6-8 reps right now. On "heavy" days (like this morning), I start with a set of 90s (got it up twice, plus getting them into position), then do four sets of 85. I'll do the same for shoulders, rows, etc.

I have a feeling this will turn out to be a pretty productive method. For a long time, I've just kind of been going as heavy as possible.

It's an app one can use with any of the Garmin GPS watches. Pretty solid stuff.

One thing I need is a pull-up bar. I know that they make them that you can put over your door. For some reason, it feels like the whole door will come tumbling down. I'd love to get a free-standing contraption to hang from. I don't feel like dumbbell rows are nearly as effective.

Pull-ups are my jam. Love them. The ones for the door frame you buy at Academy or Dick's are actually pretty good. We take them on deployments quite frequently.
