I can count on one hand the number of times I felt anything like "runner's high." I like what running does for me, and I know it has huge psychological benefits for me. (I'm like you. I run without instruments.) But I rarely enjoy it when I'm actually doing it.

I don't doubt that you're drenched, especially given the inclines you're using. Walking is great. But if you ran for the same amount of time, you'd burn more energy. I think that's just facts.

Too fat to get a "runner's high," but I do get into a bit of a zone if I can get off my lazy ass and push past the first 10 minutes.

Yeah, no zone for me. It hurts less after about 15 minutes though, for sure.

Just did 75 minutes and 1,500 calories -- 1,300 on the treadmill.

Did the first 20 minutes at 3.7/15-incline then thought I'd give 4/15 a try ... did it for 30 minutes, which is about the limit.

Last 10 minutes was a combo of 4/3-decline and 4/15-incline.

Today is 6 months since my first #bloodsugar test. I had no idea what I was doing on July 29 in terms of nutrition and what to eat and what to stop eating. I had a honkin' plate of pasta that night. I don't think I've had pasta since then.

    176: before breakfast
    265: after breakfast
    138: before lunch
    175: after lunch
    151: after walking the dog
    165: 4:48 p.m.
    141: before dinner
211: after dinner (pasta with meat sauce)

In the 6 months since then I've cut out 95-98% of carbs. No soda or Red Bull. No chips. No pasta. No bagels (which really fucking sucks). No anything bad except for the occasional cheat like the cheesecake and ice cream in NYC recently. Healthy eating is the most difficult part of this transformation. You don't realize what you had till you can't have it anymore.

Those are dramatically different numbers. Do you feel a difference? Or is it more the weight coming off?

I definitely feel the loss of weight. Got a lot of the old spring to my step and that is gratifying.

The low bloodsugar scores is more mental satisfaction as it will translate to a better A1C score. I should be out of pre-diabetic range after the next test. Should.

I just have no idea whether blood sugar levels are something you feel. I know more about math than I know about that stuff. It seems like you're a lot lower, obviously, but also a lot more stable. From 138 to 265, to 100 to 118. Like, that's a dramatic difference in range as well as level.

Just booked my life insurance physical a week from today. Just gotta lose 30 pounds by then.

Did typical home workout today. 30-plus minutes alternating between push-ups, planks and shadow boxing. Fairly efficient. Got in 200 push-ups, 700 punches and 7 30-second planks. Did 200 crunches to finish up. Not the level of intensity I'd get at the gym but I worked up a good sweat. Problem is I only do these workouts sporadically. My time management outside of work sucks. Also, so is does my sleep management. My son was up at 2:30 and didn't go back to bed. I got about four hours of sleep over a 7-hour period.

    Good job, qwerty.

I wouldn't mind trying to get some planking into the routine.

It's a great quick exercise to keep your heart rate up.

Down to 192.6 in today's weekly weigh-in for a total of 8 pounds lost. Eating better and cutting out alcohol has made a big difference. Day 20 on the 100-day workouts at home.
