Do you hold onto the hand rails when inclining?

I hold onto the top of the electronic box. Every few minutes I'll pull each arm in to stretch.

It's this kind of machine so I'm holding onto the top middle part.

Aha. This solves the walking/running mystery.

Because when I held the rails at 4.5 today, I could still walk.

I don't like holding the rails. I feel my arms are getting a workout with the tension of holding onto the top box.

75 minutes, 1,800 calories (4.3/15 for the full 60 on the treadmill).

That's about my limit. It'll be nice to take tomorrow off.

From Sunday thru today: 8,885 calories.

But your legs are getting less of one. I mean, you're still getting a workout. But I don't think you are burning as many calories as the treadmill says you are if you are holding on. (Those are notoriously inaccurate anyway, keep in mind. What really matters is that it's at least giving you a comparison of your effort from one workout to the next.)

That's not the case. My legs kept plenty worked out. Most of the exertion is still from my hips down. Holding on simply allows me to keep my balance.
